We placed the awe-inspiring Yamaha CFX Concert Grand Piano in Abbey Road Studio One, where award-winning engineers used the world’s greatest microphones and equipment to create a stunning virtual instrument library.

A passionate advocate for preserving wilderness and fighting the bureaucratic and business forces that would destroy it, Edward Abbey (1927–1989) wrote fierce, polemical books such as Desert Solitaire and The Monkey Wrench Gang that continue to inspire environmental activists. In this eloquent memoir, his friend and fellow desert rat Charles Bowden reflects on Abbey the man and the writer, offering up thought-provoking, contrarian views of the writing life, literary reputations, and the perverse need of critics to sum up “what he really meant and whether any of it was truly up to snuff.”

Abbey Road Masters is a unique label of cinematic music, producing soundtrack music for films that haven’t been made yet, all recorded at Abbey Road Studios. Working in collaboration with Universal Music’s Globe: Soundtrack & Score division, Abbey Road Masters is rooted in the traditions of the great library labels, but with a forward-thinking approach to A&R and production. For many years, Abbey Road benefited from the talents of EMI’s research and development division, which custom-built mixing consoles and outboard gear to meet the demands and ambitions of the studio engineers and the artists they worked with. Most of this equipment was only available to EMI studios and was never sold commercially. This equipment, combined with the expertise of our engineers and the unique acoustic properties of the studios, enabled what has come to be known as the “Abbey Road Sound”, which can be heard on some of the most popular recordings of all time.

Fryderyk Chopin was admired by Liszt for his individuality and revolutionary daring, and Schumann was wildly enthusiastic about the F minor Piano Concerto, one of Chopin’s earliest works.

Abbey Lincoln is a legendary figure not only in music but to the entire movement Black Power. Singer and author of authentic originality, from harsh and sensual sound and African colorings, Abbey Lincoln has been the initiator of a new jazz vocal way, placing itself ideally close to other great artists such as Billie Holiday and Nina Simone. From the '60s alongside Max Roach, his artistic career, he was always combined with his intense activity within the black community, making his music became a sounding board in the complaint of racial discrimination experienced by African-American population.
