Since the break-up of Canadian fusion group UZEB in the early 1990s, the only member to continue evolving in the direction set by the group has been bassist Alain Caron. Outside of his short-lived horn and percussion-centric Wild Unit, guitarist Michel Cusson has chosen to work in the area of television and film scoring, while drummer Paul Brochu has turned to more acoustic work with artists including saxophonist Jean-Pierre Zanella. Caron spent some time in New York, recording/performing with guitarist Leni Stern and touring occasionally with her husband Mike (with whom he still works a few times a year). He also was part of fusion guitarist Frank Gambale's uncharacteristically all-acoustic project Natural High (Wombat, 2006).

Alain Bashung (born Alain Baschung 1 December 1947 – 14 March 2009) was a French singer, songwriter and actor. A multi-platinum artist, Bashung received three awards during the ceremony at the Paris Zenith, including best male artist, best album for "Bleu Pétrole" (Barclay/Universal) and best live show. He spent his career singing a pop-chanson repertoire. With 11 trophies won since 1993, he was the most awarded artist in the history of the Victoires de la Musique. Bashung, who had cancer, had to postpone several dates of his current tour. While receiving his award, he said he hoped that record companies would "remain in a human dimension by making people happy with records."

This Magnard re-issue on the French label Hortus originally appeared in 2012 (review). It is now repackaged as volume 1 in the series Les Musiciens et la Grande Guerre (Musicians and the Great War) titled Une Mort Mythique (A Legendary Death). Magnard’s Cello Sonata is the primary attraction with the remainder given over to the composer’s complete output for solo piano which takes around forty-four minutes in total. A Parisian by birth Magnard was born into a wealthy family with a privileged upbringing. A pupil at the Conservatoire de Paris Magnard studied under Jules Massenet and Vincent D’Indy. Magnard became a national hero who was tragically shot and burnt to death defending his house from the invading Germans.
