In the space of just one EP and two singles, the Bristol-based 24-year-old singer-songwriter Stevie Parker has established a reputation as a vital new talent. Sonically, 'The Cure' stands out because of Parker's raw talent: her smoky vocals (at times raspy, at times quite delicate) never fail to paint an evocative picture - of lost love, of longing, of the melancholic beauty of just living. Production-wise, pulsing synths (think: The xx) provide an atmospheric yet sleek backdrop. Under the guidance of her mentor, Rough Trade Records co-owner Jeannette Lee, Parker teamed up with the Grammy Award-winning Jimmy Hogarth to produce the album, with David Wrench (The xx's 'I See You', FKA twigs, Caribou, Floating Points) on mixing duties. Warpaint's Stella Mozgawa and Polar Bear's Seb Rochford also contributed drums.

Lavender Lush is a revelation. The first studio album by Canada’s Lavender Lush is precisely what it should be. Inner Gods features new wave synths along with nods to Little Dragon, Gorillaz, and FKA twigs, and an underground Canada synth-pop scene. The duo and its sound is part of a route from playful electro-pop to dance, which is part of their appeal.

"Aquaria" is the full-length debut from the producer best known for his work with Beyoncé. It's hollowly explosive and impeccably engineered, but Boots remains in his own shadow, his own music eclipsed by his production work. "Aquaria" itself is a rock album cumulatively – its soul is Mad Max and Jesus' Son, as if someone pushed Nine Inch Nails and Radiohead underwater and made them kiss – but Boots's primary instinct is genre agnosticism. This is an enormous benefit to the artists who work with him, but it's often a detriment when he's left alone.

Elizabeth Caroline "Beth" Orton is an English singer-songwriter, known for her 'folktronica' sound, which mixes elements of folk and electronica. "Kidsticks", produced by Tucker Martine (Decemberists, My Morning Jacket), explores a rawer sound while also displaying rich orchestral textures without leaving completely behind her roots in the electronica scene.

mushroomed out of all proportion. Initially intended as a swiftly-released companion piece to its predecessor, 2018’s A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships, it apparently ended up taking the 1975 19 months in 15 studios in four countries to complete. You can tell as much, just from a cursory spin – if it is possible to give a cursory spin to something that’s 22 tracks long and lasts 80 minutes.

"V“ is the fifth album from The Horrors and their first new release in three years. The new album shows the group at the peak of their powers, exhibiting a freedom and sense of exploration that feels truly liberating. Recorded in London with producer Paul Epworth (fka twigs, Lorde, Rihanna, Adele), 'V' is the sound of the band making the most expansive and progressive music of their careers.

The album was almost entirely recorded by James himself, in the small Scottish fishing village of Cellardyke, where he lives. Yorkston's studio is a ramshackle old loft space, originally used to repair fisherman's nets, and now stuffed full the antique instruments James has collected throughout his life as a musician.
