Alpha Male Tea Party are another stroke in the fast expanding painting that is the “bright” math-rock community, once spearheaded by acts like Adebisi Shank and And So I Watch You From Afar and now containing as diverse acts as VASA or MNHM. The joining thread seems to be first a musical and, second, a geographical one. As far as the music goes, one can expect major chords played over energetic beats, creating frantic excursions into disjointedly optimistic riffs and an overall sensation of…satisfied loss? Let’s go with that. Geographically, the main output in this field seems to erupt from the British Isles, Perfidious Albion, or however else you’d like to call that strange, strange group of disparate places.

1970 was a pivotal year for Jethro Tull, when their relentless roadwork and perseverance began to pay off. On 24th Jan, British magazine New Musical Express chose Tull as best new group by more than 3,000 votes and their third album, Benefit, was their most ambitious and original work to date. In terms of the band's profile in America, this was the year Jethro Tull had truly arrived. The previous album, Stand Up, introduced guitarist Martin Barre to the fold and found the band stretching well beyond the parameters of the blues-based debut. The 1970 American tour would find the group expanding to a quintet, with Anderson's long-time associate John Evans joining the group on keyboards, further expanding the sonic palette. Classical elements now entered the already heady brew of blues, jazz, traditional English folk, and hard rock that defined the band's sound. This was undoubtedly a turning point for Jethro Tull whose hard work would finally pay off with Aqualung, their most poignant and popular album. From there, Tull were very nearly an American band! Timeline revisits this classic performance live from the Boston Tea Party, Boston on July 10th 1970, with a fully restored and professionally remastered original WBCN FM broadcast.

Live in Boston is a live album by British blues-rock band Fleetwood Mac. It was recorded over three nights at the Boston Tea Party venue in Boston, between February 5 and February 7, 1970. The recordings were made for a proposed live album, which was to have been released during 1970 but the project was shelved and the tapes remained unreleased until Shanghai Records issued seven songs from the performances as Live in Boston in February 1985. In 1998, Snapper Music released a three-volume CD set, titled Live in Boston: Remastered (later reissued as Live at the Boston Tea Party), which collected virtually all of the available tracks from the Boston Tea Party concerts. These three volumes have subsequently been available individually or as a box set.

Digitally remastered and expanded two CD edition includes 11 bonus tracks and a bonus live CD recorded at the Fillmore West, San Francisco in May 1970 and the Boston Tea Party in October 1970. Released in November 1970, Twelve Dreams of Dr Sardonicus was the fourth by the Spirit line-up of Randy California (guitar, vocals), Ed Cassidy (drums), Jay Ferguson (vocals, percussion), John Locke (keyboards) and Mark Andes (bass) and was produced by David Briggs (best known for his work with Neil Young). Although not the highest charting Sprit album, Twelve Dreams of Dr Sardonicus is now regarded as one of the band's finest works. The album spawned the single 'Animal Zoo' and included excellent material such as 'Nature's Way', 'Mr. Skin', 'Space Child', 'Morning Will Come' and 'Soldier'. Now remastered, the custodian of the Spirit archive has curated this release which has been expanded to include 11 bonus tracks, six previously unreleased, and an additional CD of previously unreleased live recordings from The Fillmore West in San Francisco in May 1970 and The Boston Tea Party in October 1970. This release also features an illustrated booklet with a new essay by Mick Skidmore and is the ultimate tribute to a classic album.
