The young daughter of a US Senator is drawn into a hippie "free love" cult called "The Children of Light" by the blond boyfriend of the cult's leader, a mysterious and beautiful Asian woman. The cult turns out to be not quite the "free" love community it presents itself to be.

"Love Life" is the 2nd studio album by American singer/songwriter Brenda Russell, released in March 1981 by A&M Records. "People" described the LP as a "eight of her pleasantly upbeat songs delivered with sassy-to-soothing vocals". Phyl Garland of "Stereo Review" also called the album "fresh, accessible and delightful".

"To Love Again" is a 1981 studio/compilation album by Diana Ross. It featured both new recordings and previously-released material. The album was produced by Michael Masser.

Since releasing their self-titled 1972 Columbia debut, Blue Öyster Cult have been called everything from "the thinking man's heavy metal group" to an "occult rock band" to "the first pop/heavy metal act." They have sold more than 25 million records, and they released a handful of singles during the '70s that became classic rock radio standards, among them "Don't Fear the Reaper," "Burning' for You," and "Godzilla." Lyrics that crisscross science fiction, the occult, and horror films, their layered, three-guitar attack, expansive vocal harmonies, and almost-inimitable balance between crunchy riffs and infectious hooks resulted in the most listenable metal of the '70s.

The final word – a 98-track 6CD super deluxe box set, this ultimate version of the album tells its full story. Containing many rarities previously deleted there is also a staggering 40 tracks previously unreleased.

L.T.D. suffered quite a loss when Jeffrey Osborne, a jewel of a lead singer, left to pursue a solo career in 1980. For L.T.D., losing Osborne was like the Commodores losing Lionel Richie or Van Halen losing David Lee Roth it was a major blow, although not a fatal one. Osborne was replaced by two new lead vocalists: Leslie Wilson and Andre Ray, both of them talented, expressive soulsters who demonstrated that they could handle the job nicely. Many Osborne admirers greeted Love Magic, L.T.D.'s first post-Osborne album, with skepticism, but this 1981 LP is surprisingly successful.

Born in Savannah, Georgia, Marc moved to New York in the 1970s, where he established himself on the club scene, befriended Phyllis Hyman and Stephanie Mills and worked with James Mtume and Reggie Lucas, the production duo behind their most successful tracks. Marc released two albums on Warner Brothers in the early 80s, both produced by Mtume and Lucas, and contributed to the New York garage scene in the early-mid 90s, as Sir Dane, on tracks produced by B.O.P., Ace Mungin and Tyrone Payton.

For his 3rd album "Closer", Gino Soccio hired Erma Shaw, a singer he’d met at Muscle Shoals. Shaw had been discovered as a teenager by Stax cofounder Estelle Axton and was a session vocalist at Willie Mitchell’s Royal Recording Studios in Memphis. For Soccio, she was the perfect voice to bring out his American influences: “I wanted to go ultra, ultra R&B, and she was Black as Black. She was Willie Mitchell’s girlfriend, she was from the South.” With Shaw on vocals, Soccio cut the LP Closer and the lead single “Try It Out,” which spent ten weeks at the top of the disco chart in 1981. It also crossed over to Black audiences, climbing as far as number twenty-two on the R&B chart - an achievement Soccio said is a crowning moment in his career. “I was proud of that,” he says. “I’d been criticized for being too Black: ‘It’s too Black, it’ll never work.’ Well, you can never be too Black.”
