SETI is an ambient electronic band, which is a collaboration of Savvas Ysatis and Taylor Deupree (also credited as Taylor808). The duo formed in 1993 in New York. The term S.E.T.I. stands for the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence. This topic is the inspiration for and the central theme of the band’s music. SETI’s music is ambient, with few songs containing readily apparent rhythms (those with rhythm tend toward the trip-hop-ambient-IDM genres). The mood of the music is pervasively mysterious, grandiose and occasionally spooky; the sounds used are expansive, even alien in nature…

The third studio album is released in September 2016, and it includes exciting contributions by a few giants in the progressive world, plus some of the finest chilean talents. The core band consists of Claudio Momberg on keyboards, bass and guitar, Juan Ricardo Weiler on drums, Jose Luis Ramos on bass, Gabriel Hidalgo on lead guitars, Jaime Scalpello on Vocals and Paula Vilches on Vocals. Featuring special guests Steve Rothery (Marillion) on Guitars, Damian Wilson (Threshold, Maiden uniteD) on vocals and Clive Nolan (Arena, Pendragon) on keyboard solos. Seti is a new and promising Chilean progrock band, in fact it is a side-project of the musicians of SUBTERRA, led by the multi-instrumentalist Claudio Momberg. Its name is taken from the famous NASA program: Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence. This scientific experience in radio-astronomy aims to create contact with possible extra-terrestrial life forms.
