That the four main works on this disc have never been recorded before is no reflection on the quality of the music or the composer. Joseph Martin Kraus, the German-born composer-contemporary of Mozart's working in Sweden, was all but forgotten after his death in 1792 and recordings of his works have been few and far between. And his four Italian cantatas on this disc were nearly completely forgotten after the death of the soprano they were written for in 1790.

Many important Baroque composers and their music found their way to Denmark – thanks not least to the music-loving King Frederik IV. This CD presents a unique musical panorama of the King's court music and combines concertos by Christoph Graupner, Johann Adolph Scheibe and Johann Gottlieb Graun with newly discovered dance music for the King’s daughter, Princess Charlotte Amalie, reconstructed for this world premiere recording by Danish recorder virtuoso Bolette Roed and the Polish Baroque ensemble Arte dei Suonatori.

This ultimate collection showcases an artist with such diversity and a voice like no other. As she approaches her 70th Birthday, she clearly shows no signs of slowing down. Indeed, she will be appearing on the 3rd Series of TV series Downton Abbey, starring as Dame Nellie Melba.

La finta giardiniera was a resounding success: after the first performance 1774 in Rome, the opera was translated into several languages and staged in many other European cities and inspired Mozart to write an opera of the same title. This world premiere recording by the ensemble l'arte del mondo shows the exceptional skills of this little-known composer. The Spanish Catalan soprano Nuria Rial is famous for her shining, crystal clear and beautiful voice and is one of the best baroque voices for baroque arias. She was described as "a silvery sounding voice, as clear as a bell."

Royal Hunt is a progressive metal band based in Denmark, founded in 1989 by keyboardist Andre Andersen. The band is known for creating melodic music with a progressive and symphonic flair. They made a huge success during mid-90s with vocalist D.C. Cooper on their classic albums "Moving Target" and "Paradox", mainly in Japan and Europe.
With Andre Andersen on keyboards, singer Henrik Brockmann, bassist Steen Mogensen, drummer Kenneth Olson and session musicians playing guitar, Royal Hunt was set to record their first album, "Land of Broken Hearts". This was a basic rock set featuring Andre's classically influenced melodies…

Zinman's Resurrection is the second release in Mahler's complete series of works for this conductor with the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra. His Beethoven, Schumann, and Richard Strauss discs for Arte Nova have been a resounding success. During Albinoni’s lifetime (1671-1751) four separate collections of sonatas with violin were published under his name, though only the Trattenimenti armonici Op.6 were prepared by their composer. The works in Op.6 have accordingly dominated the record catalogues and obscured the virtues of the others, which Federico Guglielmo presents here with his customary flair and feeling for the Italian Baroque which has previously yielded the much-praised Brilliant Classics collection of Vivaldi’s Opp 1-12 (95200) as well as the Op.1 Trio Sonatas (94789) by Albinoni himself.
