"F.L.M." is the only studio album by British pop duo Mel and Kim. It was released on 13 April 1987 by Supreme Records. The album peaked at #3 on the UK Albums Chart and has been certified Platinum by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). It also reached the Top 5 in Australia, Finland and Switzerland, the 10 in Norway and the Top 20 in Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden. Three successful singles are included on the album: "Showing Out" (#3 on the UK Singles Chart), "Respectable" (#1) and "F.L.M." (#7). A two-disc deluxe edition of the album was released in 2010, including the duo's 1988 single "That's the Way It Is", and its B-side, "You Changed My Life", which were not included on the original release of the album, as well as 7" mixes and extended versions of singles and album tracks.

It is a sad irony of history that Tomaso Albinoni is universally known for a piece he never wrote. The average music lover, prompted by the word “Albinoni”, will normally answer: “Adagio!”. But the exceedingly famous Adagio, played at weddings and funerals, and heard in countless soundtracks, is in fact a fake realized by Italian musicologist Remo Giazotto in the twentieth century. Still, the fake Adagio has the undeniable merit of having attracted global attention on the figure of this Venetian baroque composer, who fully deserves to be numbered among the greatest musicians of his era. And this claim is not unsupported: we may in fact assume that a composer whose works were adopted as models by Johann Sebastian Bach had something to say. Bach in fact employed themes excerpted from Albinoni’s Opera I and built some of his finest Fugues on them; moreover, he also proposed Albinoni’s music to his students as a compositional model. In fact, we have Bach’s handwritten corrections on a pupil’s realization of the continuo part of an Albinoni Sonata.

Continuing their exploration of Ravel’s output, François-Xavier Roth and Les Siècles offer us two works linked by his love of Spain. Alongside the famous Bolero, which regains its original flavour here on period instruments, is Ravel’s first opera, which flirted with libertinism: though its outstanding cast consists entirely of native French-speakers, this caustic ‘Hour’ remains quintessentially Spanish!

Their new album Pulsar, is a focused but far-reaching record, the jubilant testament of a band with plenty to say and the skills to say it themselves.
