1977 Night Owls Original Broadcast

Intrada announces the premiere release of the 1957 Universal Pictures western Night Passage. Composer Dimitri Tiomkin was famous for his westerns, including such classics as High Noon, Gunfight at the OK Corral, Red River and Rio Bravo. Until now, very little of his score to Night Passage has been released. Here, Tiomkin displays his legendary talent for scoring the genre, including exciting action passages, broad sweeping themes and two songs written with lyricist Ned Washington: “Follow The River” is a soulful ballad, sweeping and wide, and “You Can’t Get Far Without A Railroad” is a folksy, comic song that a vaudevillian might have called a “novelty number.” Stewart, with his rustic, untrained baritone, performs both in the film (as can be heard in the Extras on this disc).

When Intrada visited score years ago with composer involvement, Goldsmith edited several bars of his opening percussion to "tighten pace". Result was indeed a brisker reading of opening prologue music but somewhat lost were critically timed pauses between bars of percussion, pauses that later become part of interior rhythm of score throughout. Cues now play in their original unedited manner. For massive "First Flight" set-piece, Goldsmith recorded cue in two versions two accommodate editorial changes in picture, one familiar from earlier album, the other being heard for first time ever.

Filmtrax will release a soundtrack album for the thriller Night Hunter. The album features the film’s original music composed by Alex Lu (In Pursuit of Silence) and produced by Benjamin Wallfisch (It, Blade Runner 2049, Shazam!, Hidden Figures, Annabelle Creation). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, September 6 and will be available to stream and download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Night Hunter is directed by David Raymond and stars Henry Cavill, Ben Kingsley, Alexandra Daddario, Stanley Tucci, Nathan Fillion, Minka Kelly, Brendan Fletcher and Mpho Koaho. The movie follows an American police force that traps an online predator, only to realize the depth of his crimes goes far beyond anything anticipated. The thriller premiered at last year’s Los Angeles Film Festival (under the title Nomis) and is being released in select theaters this weekend by Saban Films following its debut on DirecTV last month.

Reyes has produced a tense but at the same time richly thematic work and treats us collectors of film and TV music to a veritable delight of musical delicacies… This is a prime example of how a television series should be scored, right from the strident and no holds barred opening theme one just becomes aware that this is a polished and dramatic soundtrack a work that is to be savoured, appreciated and soaked up by the listener…. The music underlines, punctuates and gives weight and momentum to an already powerful storyline, the composer creating memorable themes and driving musical passages that have the ability and charisma to hook the listener.

Film Festival. The film features an ensemble cast lead by Henry Cavill, Sir Ben Kingsley, Alexandra Dadarrio, and Stanley Tucci.

Vaya Con Dios is a Belgian musical group founded in 1986 by Dani Klein, Dirk Schoufs, and Willy Lambregt (the latter subsequently replaced by Jean-Michel Gielen). Their name is Spanish for "Go with God". It is one of the most successful Belgian groups ever. They had some international success with the songs "Just A Friend Of Mine" (a hit in France), "What's a Woman?" (a number 1 hit in the Netherlands in 1990), "Nah Neh Nah", "Don't Cry for Louie", "Puerto Rico", "Heading for a Fall", "Johnny", "Sunny Days" and "Don't Break My Heart". In total, Vaya Con Dios have sold more than 7 million albums and more than 3 million singles.
