Dismissed by rock critics but adored by its fans, Head East was the quintessential Midwestern arena rock outfit of the 1970s. Head East, for the most part, wasn't the most challenging band in the world; the St. Louis natives lacked the complexity of progressive rockers, and they weren't nearly as provocative and daring as punk, new wave, and heavy metal artists. But when it came to delivering hook-laden arena rock that was both melodic and invigorating, Head East reigned supreme. Although the band's studio efforts were its biggest sellers, Head East's most essential release is this excellent live album from 1979.

Combining a love for British guitar pop songcraft with crunching power chords and a flair for the absurd, Cheap Trick provided the necessary links between '60s pop, heavy metal, and punk. Led by guitarist Rick Nielsen, the band's early albums were filled with highly melodic, well-written songs that drew equally from the crafted pop of the Beatles, the sonic assault of the Who, and the tongue-in-cheek musical eclecticism and humor of the Move. A canny student of '60s rock, Nielsen first worked with bassist Tom Petersson in the band Fuse, who released one album in 1969 before dissolving.

Amazing and very earthy live document of one of the most successful AOR bands in the world - recorded by WDR on November 10, 1979 in the Markthalle, Hamburg including several No. 1 hits and albums worldwide, gold and platinum awards - the album "Hi Infidelity" (1980) alone sold more than 10 million copies. Originally formed in 1967 and hailing from Champaign, Illinois, after a few line-up hiccups, the classic REO line-up was solidified once and for all in 1977: Kevin Cronin supplying vocals, guitar, and piano, Gary Richrath on guitar, Bruce Hall on bass, Neal Doughty on keyboards, organs, and synthesizer, and Alan Gratzer on drums.

Bob Dylan converted to Christianity in 1979. Like many who have been born again, Dylan spoke and sang solely of his faith for a brief period – roughly half a year, beginning in November of 1979 and ending in May of 1980. Facing a fan base who were generally furious at his newfound religion, Dylan started to thread some oldies into his set lists but he didn't leave gospel behind until he released Infidels in 1983.

FIVE DISC SET (3 CD 37 tracks & 2 DVDs) Like the Boss (Bruce Springsteen), Southside Johnny aka John Lyon is from New Jersey, and of course the paths of the two and the members of the E-Street Band crossed many times. Especially with Steven Van Zandt aka Little Steven there was a long lasting friendship and Van Zandt produced the first three albums I Don't Want to Go Home (1976), This Time It's for Real (1977) and Hearts of Stone (1978) of Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes, which were strongly influenced by Rhythm & Blues.The band gave their first German concert in 1977 at Hamburg's club Onkel Pö, and in October 1979 they played together with Mitch Ryder and Nils Lofgren at the 5th Rockpalast Night at Essen's Grugahalle. WDR was there for Rockpalast and recorded the concert. On March 26, 1992, Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes gave a second concert for Rockpalast in Cologne's Live Music Hall, where Little Steven joined them on stage for four songs.

The Sound of Solar came to fruition with groups of the calibre of groups such as Dynasty, Shalamar and The Whispers and this 2 CD set takes us through the breakthrough albums for the label that led to major disco and pop chart success. Part of that ingredient was the highly distinctive instrumentation, with heavy bass lines prominent, clipped rhythm guitar, full brass and strings, and those oh so mighty handclaps.

2009 Deluxe Edition of the Irish Punk band's brilliant debut album, released to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the original album's release. This excellent reissue features the original 14 track album plus an additional 17 audio tracks (b-sides, radio sessions) and an enhanced video for 'Teenage Kicks'. The Undertones debut release - and particularly 'Teenage Kicks' - has long been regarded as one of the purest expressions of teenage Punk Pop. As bassist Michael Bradley says there was 'No plot, no theme, no parodies of any genre'. The Undertones 1979 debut is an off-the-cuff collection from five Derry kids with nothing to lose.
