Not For Sale was a Beatles bootleg CD released in 1989 on Condor Records, allegedly pressed in Australia but the CD said it was made in Korea. This was one of the first boot CD's I bought way back then and while it did look like professionally made compact discs, if you looked at the CD through a light, there were a few pinholes through the metal within the disc itself. It had been said that this shows the inferiority of bootleg discs but it was just a disc that was not made as well as companies who had a bigger budget to use better material. Nonetheless, when it was possible to rip CD's, this was also one of the first I saved, in fear of the CD deteriorating.

Trash is the eighteenth studio album released by Alice Cooper in 1989. The album features the single "Poison", Cooper's first top ten hit since his single "You And Me" in 1977 and marked a great success in Cooper's musical career, reaching the Top 20 of various album charts and selling more than two million copies of a studio album. After Alice's return to the music industry with the successful "The Nightmare Returns" tour, Cooper had sought assistance from Desmond Child to create a comeback album. Trash became one of Cooper's biggest albums, accompanied by music videos for "Poison", "Bed of Nails", "House of Fire", and "Only My Heart Talkin'". A successful year-long worldwide concert tour in support of the album was documented in the home video release Alice Cooper Trashes The World.

APRIL FOOL was formed in early 1988 by drummer Walt "Wiggy" Kaye, who enlisted guitarist Chris Rocus, bassist Chris Mock and vocalist Dave Stradling. First order of business was a four song demo recorded at Dave Ivory's studio, Iris Sound. APRIL FOOL then hit the club circuit hard while the song "Bad Boy Willie" was receiving local Philadelphia airplay, resulting in the band's live concert following starting to grow. By the fall of 1988 Mock decided to leave the band and was replaced by bassist Roberto Lombardi. At this point the band enjoyed interest from several major labels. During the negotiations in early 1989, Rocus would be replaced by guitarist George Smith. Three weeks after the lineup changes, APRIL FOOL was back out playing live to even bigger crowds up and down the east coast.

A pivotal album for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, 1989's Mother's Milk turned the tide and transformed the band from underground funk-rocking rappers to mainstream bad boys with seemingly very little effort. Mother's Milk brought them to MTV, scored them a deal with Warner Bros., and let both frontman Anthony Kiedis and the ubiquitous Flea get back into a good groove following the death of co-founding member Hillel Slovak…
