Following in the footsteps of Justin Bieber and Soulja Boy, Croatian cellists Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser, aka 2Cellos, were discovered through YouTube, after six million people viewed their classical cover version of Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal." Now with a major-label deal under their belt, the classically trained musicians face the tough prospect of translating what could be seen a one-trick pony novelty into a full-length album. It's a task made even more difficult considering that, unlike violinist David Garrett's forays into classical rock, which add layers of orchestral production on top of his virtuoso skills, the two 24-year-olds' self-titled debut doesn't feature any other instruments. Luckily, the pair's masterful talents, which seem to produce sounds from a cello that otherwise wouldn't seem possible, more than make up for the lack of background support.
The fourth studio album by the cello duo of Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser, Score takes on favorites of the big and small screens, dating back as far as the '60s for Henry Mancini's "Moon River." Later highlights include a medley of Ramin Djawadi's music for TV's Game of Thrones, still in production at the time of the album's release. 2Cellos are joined here by none other than the London Symphony Orchestra and conductor/arranger Robin Smith, who puts appropriate focus on the duo's own cello arrangements.
2CELLOS, music’s most electric and dynamic instrumental duo, go to the movies for their new album Score, available on March 17, 2017, bringing 2CELLOS’ game-changing sound and style to the most popular melodies ever written for classic and contemporary movies and television.
The third studio album from the internationally renowned Croatian classical/pop duo consisting of savvy cellists Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser, the self-produced Celloverse offers up 13 spirited slabs of rock-infused, classical crossover mayhem that are as elegant as they are downright fiery. Tracks include rousing renditions of rock hits from the likes of Iron Maiden ("The Trooper"), Radiohead ("Street Spirit"), Muse ("Hysteria"), and AC/DC ("Thunderstruck"), the latter of which segues into Vivaldi's Cello Sonata No. 4 in E minor.
2CELLOS new DVD, Live at Arena Zagreb, is an exhilarating live performance filmed in their Croatian homeland to a sold-out audience of over 25,000 fans. Accompanied by the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, the concert includes songs from their self titled debut album as well as their internationally acclaimed second release, IN2ITION. The DVD features 2CELLOS' massive YouTube hits, "Smooth Criminal" and "Welcome to the Jungle," along with a trio of their popular renditions of AC/DC songs "Back in Black," "You Shook Me All Night Long" and "Highway to Hell." Rounding out the set are their unique covers of songs from Jimi Hendrix, Coldplay, U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana and Sting plus classical repertoire that showcases their unsurpassed virtuosity. Also included is a bonus Behind-the- Scenes feature.
2CELLOS return this autumn with an all-new album, Let There Be Cello, set for release October 19. A follow-up to the 2017 release of Score, Let There Be Cello finds Stjepan and Luka exploring a diverse catalogue with their signature boundary-breaking playing style.
Legendary rock producer Bob Ezrin is at the helm on In2ition, the second release by the Croatian classical crossover duo 2Cellos. Similar to their debut release, In2ition features a wide array of restructured cover versions including "We Found Love" (Rihanna), "Highway to Hell" (AC/DC), "Bang Bang" (Sonny & Cher), and "Orient Express" (Jean Michel Jarre). The guest appearances on this date are just as eclectic as the choice of material. Helping out are Steve Vai, Lang Lang, Naya Rivera, Karl Jenkins, Zucchero, and Elton John, who is such a fan he had the duo open for him on his 2011 summer tour.
