Pump up the volume! No single phrase captures the sound of the 1980s better. Big, loud, bold, and brash – even the ballads had power! The ’80s were the last golden era of Top 40 radio. This was a magic time when the best music was also the music that filled America’s airwaves. Artists like Bruce Springsteen, Michael Jackson, U2 and Prince were at the absolute zenith of their commercial careers, but that was only half the story.

The 1980s were probably the last real decade for the pop single. It was certainly the last one in which every record that made the Hot 100 was an actual vinyl single. Radio was still breaking big hits and new artists, rather than TV talent shows and the still-nascent Internet. And people still rushed to their local record store to buy what their local station was playing, rather than streaming or downloading it.

This two-in-one set features a pair of LPs by Corey Hart, First Offense and Boy in the Box, originally issued in 1984 and 1985. These 19 tracks include the original versions of Hart's biggest hits, "Sunglasses at Night" and "Never Surrender".
