Since he became the music director and conductor of the San Francisco Symphony, Michael Tilson Thomas has largely focused his attention on presenting the symphonies of Gustav Mahler in splendid audiophile recordings, for which he has received critical and popular praise. So his first hybrid SACD of works by Claude Debussy comes as a surprise, not only because the sound world is quite different from Mahler's, but Tilson Thomas' interest in Debussy has seemed less obsessive over the years.

Katie Derham introduces this year's traditional spectacular concert from the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in the gardens of Schonbrunn Palace. There's a distinctly French flavour to the evening with music from Bizet, Berlioz, Poulenc and Ravel, and a special appearance from the world-renowned French piano duo the Labeque sisters. The concert is conducted for the first time by Semyon Bychkov who, though Russian-born, is an honorary Frenchman on account of his being married to Marielle Labeque.

Nancy Wilson was one of the most prolific singers of the 1960s. Her style was all encompassing, taking in ballads, jazz, R&B, show tunes and pop music, making her classification as a singer hard to define but that is part of her charm and a key element in her seemingly endless career which continues today. Collected here are her first two albums 'Like In Love' and 'Something Wonderful' plus four bonus tracks which include "My Foolish Heart", which was her first taste of chart success. Although this collection of Nancy's early material may lack charting hits, it is chock full of great songs including a wonderful version of T-Bone Walker's "Call It Stormy Monday".
