A Dark Night in Aurora

James Holmes killed or wounded seventy people in a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado. Only one man was allowed to record extensive interviews with the shooter. This is what he found.

Light in the darkness is a solo piano album with original music by Steve Beukema. These songs feature melodies that are emotionally rich, and beautiful in their simplicity, with lush synth soundscapes, inspired by looking up at the Milky Way galaxy on a still, dark, starry night. There's great irony in dark skies. Most of us do not experience the awe and wonder of a really dark night sky because of light pollution from cities. The irony is that the farther you go away from cities, the darker and darker the night sky becomes. And when the night sky becomes dark, more and more stars are visible. The darkest of places are actually quite light at night, because they are illuminated by the collective starlight of millions of stars and by the mysterious and majestic glow of the Milky Way galaxy.
