Judas Priest rebounded from the shaky Point of Entry with Screaming for Vengeance, arguably the strongest album of their early-'80s commercial period. Having moved a bit too far into simplistic hard rock, Vengeance found the band refocusing on heavy metal, and achieving a greater balance between commercialism and creativity. The results were catchy and accessible, yet harder-hitting, and without the awkwardly apparent calculation that informed the weakest moments of the album's two predecessors. Ultimately, Screaming for Vengeance hangs together better than even the undeniable landmark British Steel, both thematically and musically.

With 17 guitarists contributing to 19 tracks, the likes of Trey Gunn, Paul Richards, and Curt Golden (just to name a few) decorate the album with elaborate string arrangements that range from avant-garde to classical in nature. Anyone who is a guitar enthusiast will be astonished at how tight Fripp comes across with his unique style. From time to time, vocalist Patricia Leavitt displays her beautiful falsetto voice a cappella for a fresh change of pace. The music is shaped, bent, and twisted with guitar atop guitar to culminate thick layers of movements, suites, and passages…

This is the soundtrack to the 1990 film by Bobby Roth. The music is by the combo of Edgar Froese and Paul Haslinger (now departed). The music is similar in style to the recent Private Music releases. Good rhythmic structure combined with strong melodic composition shows this album to be one of the best albums by Tangerine Dream. Definitely one of their best soundtracks in a long time. The soundtrack, though, is a revelation on the music that was composed. Track five "Purposes Of Brevity" harkens to earlier TD days with its sequencer driven rhythm. Don't miss this release even if it is expensive to buy and hard to locate.
