Struggling with grief, Becky decides she needs to leave the family farm and all its memories. She leaves Acie with her grandfather Ben and visits with her friend from school, June. With all the best intent, June offers Becky plenty of distraction from her family life. Fueled by her anger at G*d and loss of faith, Becky starts drinking and making other self-destructive choices. Then, after Becky is arrested, Ben threatens to keep Acie until Becky is back on track. A chance encounter in a bus station with a traveler gives Becky what she needs to restore her faith and reunite with her family.

Mariss Jansons is the principal conductor of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and Choir, and his joint projects with the chorus, headed by Howard Arman, are invariably highlights of the concert season.

Violist Antoine Tamestit and mezzo-soprano, Karen Cargill, join forces with the London Symphony Orchestra and Valery Gergiev, in the latest instalment of their Berlioz exploration. Composed in 1834 at the suggestion of Paganini and completed in Montmartre, 'Harold en Italie' received its first performance at the Conservatoire de Paris later that year. Taking inspiration from Lord Byron s 'Childe Harold s Pilgrimage', 'Harold en Italie' is among the most poetic of Berlioz s oeuvre, its ingenious use of solo viola charting the dreamy Harold s wanderings throughout the Italian countryside and the characters encountered along the way.

The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and conductor Daniele Gatti join with the Netherlands Radio Choir and soloists Chen Reiss and Karen Cargill for a vibrant live recording of Mahler's Symphony No. 2 in C Minor "Resurrection”. The history of the world-famous orchestra is interlinked with that of Mahler's own, and the Concertgebouw musicians certainly appear to have an affinity for this music, offering up a rousing and intense interpretation of this well-known symphony with sparkling vocal contributions from Reiss and Cargill.

Never performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra before, and rarely heard in concert at all, the Requiem by Antonín Dvorák captured on this CD from a live concert seems a near-forgotten masterpiece. Dvorák scholar Gervase Hughes cites this work for four soloists, chorus and orchestra as one of the composer's finest sacred creations, 'a deeply moving expression of faith on the part of a composer whose religious conviction never wavered'. It's a conviction stamped through the composer's illuminating, fervent score.
