Developments in the measurement and interpretation of advanced laboratory stress-strain testing of geomaterials are discussed in this text, which includes a collection of case studies which apply the test results. Most of the articles were produced through the activities of the technical committee No 29 (TC-29) on "Stress-Strain Testing of Geomaterials in the Laboratory" of the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) between the years 1994 and 2000. ;The volume includes coverage of: detailed testing procedures of the advanced laboratory stress-strain testing of geomaterials including the triaxial and torsional shear tests, which are relevant to the geotechnical design in general and the prediction of ground deformation and structural displacement; the results obtained from a series of international round robin tests (static and dynamic tests) on clay, sand and softrock and their interpretation; the link between the results from static tests (monotonic and cyclic loading) and dynamic tests (the resonant-column tests and the bender element tests); country reports on the stress-strain testing in the laboratory in several countries; country reports on case histories in which advanced laboratory stress-strain played an essential role in predicting ground deformation and structural displacement; and individual technical papers relating to the objectives of TC-29.

Constitutive Modeling of Geomaterials: Advances and New Applications

Constitutive Modeling of Geomaterials: Advances and New Applications by Qiang Yang
English | PDF | 2013 | 778 Pages | ISBN : 364232813X | 33 MB

Constitutive modeling of geomaterials has been an active research area for a long period of time. Different approaches have been used in the development of various constitutive models. A number of models have been implemented in the numerical analyses of geotechnical structures. The objective of the symposium is to provide a forum for researchers and engineers working or interested in the area of constitutive modeling to meet together and share new ideas, achievements and experiences through presentations and discussions. Emphasis is placed on recent advances of constitutive modeling and its applications in both theoretic and experimental aspects.

Corrosion and Stress Corrosion Testing of Aerospace Vehicle Structural Alloys By Russell Wanhill
English | PDF,EPUB | 2018 | 73 Pages | ISBN : 331989529X | 5.22 MB

This SpringerBrief discusses the determination and classification of the ambient temperature corrosion and stress corrosion properties of aerospace structural alloys, with emphasis on (1) aluminium alloys, modern (3rd generation) aluminium‒lithium alloys, stainless steels and titanium alloys and (2) some of the issues involved. Standard /reference data on environmental properties, including corrosion and stress corrosion, are mandatory for the qualification and certification of materials for aerospace vehicles, and also for the design of actual structures and components. Recommendations for further testing and evaluation are given at appropriate points in the text. The book concludes with a summary of the main topics.
