"I Ain't Lyin'…" is all Charlie - original tunes penned by this Grammy winning master that resonate with the South itself - rising from the Mississippi, crossing the levy, dancing through the streets and cutting to the heart of all that matters. Charlie Musselwhite’s journey through the blues was literal from his birth in Mississippi to Memphis, Chicago and California. Arriving in Chicago in the early sixties, he was just in time for the epochal blues revival. In 1966 at the age of 22 he recorded the landmark Stand Back! Here Comes Charlie Musselwhite’s Southside Band to rave reviews. A precipitous relocation to San Francisco in 1967, where his album was being played on underground radio, found him welcomed into the counterculture scene around the Fillmore West as an authentic purveyor of the real deal blues.
I Am The Manic Whale is a progressive rock band formed in Reading, United Kingdom, in 2015, consisting of Michael Whiteman (bass guitar and lead vocals, plus occasional keyboards and guitar), David Addis (guitars and backing vocals), Ben Hartley (drums and backing vocals), and John Murphy (keyboards and vocals). As the debut album from I Am The Manic Whale, "Everything Beautiful in Time" features songs "about finding the beauty in things that are often not considered beautiful and how this changes with the passage of time". From the accompanying documentation it appears that the material for the album has been written over a decade or more, although only recorded in the last year…

A couple of months ago (April, 2015), I reviewed an amazing CD from Pheeroan AkLaff which featured Ed Cherry on guitar and we've sold more than fifty copies so far. This month (July, 2015) the ForTune label has released a rare trio effort from Mr. Cherry, backed by two fine Polish musicians, neither of whom I was previously familiar with.
SETI - SETI (1994), SETI - Pharos (1995), SETI - Ciphers (1996).
SETI is an ambient electronic band, which is a collaboration of Savvas Ysatis and Taylor Deupree (also credited as Taylor808). The duo formed in 1993 in New York. The term S.E.T.I. stands for the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence. This topic is the inspiration for and the central theme of the band’s music. SETI’s music is ambient, with few songs containing readily apparent rhythms (those with rhythm tend toward the trip-hop-ambient-IDM genres). The mood of the music is pervasively mysterious, grandiose and occasionally spooky; the sounds used are expansive, even alien in nature…
