This book comprises a set of chapters that introduce various topics pertinent to novel approaches towards enhancing cyber-physical measures for increased security and resilience levels in control systems. The unifying theme of these approaches lies in the utilization of knowledge and models of the physical systems, rather than an attempt to reinvigorate conventional IT-based security measures.

Over the years, we have been involved in several invited sessions at international conferences, as well as Special Issues dedicated to topics revolving around mathematical modeling and the analysis of biological systems, as well as bioprocess optimization and control. All this would not have been possible without the participation of a great circle of colleagues and friends who have contributed high-quality work to these events. The present book is no exception to this fruitful synergy and communication, and we would like to express our gratitude to the contributors to this collective publication. The array of subjects considered in the several chapters reflects the vibrant research in the area of biosystem modeling and control. Mathematical modeling and analysis have always been central in unveiling behavioral aspects of biosystems and today, more than ever, to forge strategies to improve the quality, productivity, and sustainability of bioprocesses.

After four decades, ‘Red Roses For Me’ is still celebrated as a groundbreaking debut album from an unlikely group of supposed ne’er-do-wells from London’s Kings Cross in the convulsive aftermath of the re-election of the Thatcher government. Before we get onto the new one we need to put things in context and talk a little about the past.In the final year of the sixties and in the final year of his teens, Nick Garrie made an album that should be regarded as one of the great classic albums of the decade: 'The Nightmare of J.B. Stanislas'. The fact that it is not more widely known or more universally recognised as one of the classics of the era is not down to the quality of the product but rather to a series of unfortunate events (that's another story).
