The concept of 'Blues People' came to Eric Bibb when he was at the Blues Foundation Awards in Memphis. It inspired him to create a collection of songs about change and hope in collaboration with friends like Taj Mahal, The Blind Boys Of Alabama, Ruthie Foster (who he has been touring with), Michael Jerome Browne, Harrison Kennedy and many others. Eric Bibb is one of the highest profile international roots musicians, winning Acoustic Artist of the Year at the Blues Music Awards and having been nominated for a Grammy. He will be touring extensively to support this release.

From start to finish this album defies categorical classification. It employs the best of R&B, Afro-beat, folk, and blues while remaining true to the Blind Boys' gospel roots. And with a tasteful selection of material by Tom Waits, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, and Ben Harper, in addition to their usual array of traditional gospel hymns and folk tunes, it will appeal to generations of listeners. Though varied in its stylings, the album works as a whole due to the high-quality production, arrangements, and musicianship throughout.

This is a 61-track, three-CD set that encompasses a complete chronological run of Patton's recorded output. All of his solo sides are here, his duets with Bertha Lee and Henry Sims and his backup work behind both of them. All previous incarnations of this material don't sound near as good as they do on these three volumes, all of them given the full deluxe Cedarization noise reduction treatment from the Document folks.

FLAC (tracks+.cue, log, artwork) | 2:32:38 | 475 Mb
Genre: Blues

The Mississippi Delta has some of the most fertile soil in the world and became one of the richest cotton growing areas in the world which, before the American Civil War, was worked exclusively by black slaves brought over from Africa. The blues was forged on the anvil of poverty and hardship the black sharecroppers and tenant farmers had to endure. Born of the harsh, brutal conditions of life in the South, and full of pain, frustration and anger, the passionate, soulful sounds of the Delta revolutionised the sound of 20th-century music. This compilation celebrates some of its greatest exponents.

Complete Recorded Works, Vol. 3 (1930-1932) continues Document's exhaustive overview of Leroy Carr's recordings for Vocalion between 1928 and his death in 1935. Though Carr produced a few classics during the year and a half covered by this volume (including "Alabama Women Blues" and "New How Long How Long Blues, Pt. 2"), the vast majority of listeners will have trouble working through this material, much of which sounds very similar. Still, it's the only way to hear the complete work of this important bluesman, which is more than enough for serious blues fans.

Alabama Town is Peter Karp’s eighth CD featuring his original songs. Produced by Peter and multi Grammy Award winning producer Dae Bennett (Tony Bennett). It was inspired by the music he heard growing up in Enterprise, Ala in the 1960s and is dedicated to his African American step mom Ruth Turner (12/4/1925 - 10/29/2016). The upbeat, guitar driven album represents his finest songwriting to date. It features his trademark slide guitar as well as guitar work from his friends Mick Taylor (Rolling Stones), Garth Hudson (The Band) Paul Carbonara (Blondie), Todd Wolfe (Sheryl Crow) and his son James Otis Karp. It also features harmonica virtuoso Dennis Gruenling.
