All India Radio Archival Release: Sarod (Vols. 1-9) is a nine volume series of compilation discs by sarod musician Ali Akbar Khan. These discs were sold individually but I have gathered all nine volumes here as one. They are taken from recordings performed on All India Radio primarily from the 1960's but also including one from 1956, most of which hadn't been heard outside of India until these compilations were assembled. Released in 1997, this series was released on compact disc in 2001 on the T-Series label.

There is absolutely no need to describe anything about 'Ustad Ali Akbar Khan'. However, In simple way, I would reveal again, He is undisputed 'Sarod' emperor of the 20th century. In this particular release, we'll have a rare and great chance to listen to his early recordings. As an young man, he performed so many times for All India Radio from late 30's to late 60's and this particular release gives us a rare and great chance to listen some of those recordings which were selected between 1956 to 1967. Unfortunately not much information is available on these recordings and they have not even furnished who accompanied him on Tabla in these recordings. But during those years, few tabla players like Kanai Dutta, Shankar Ghosh, Mahapurush Misra, Shashi Bellari, Nikhil Ghosh, Chatur Lal, Kishan Maharaj etc were actively participated with Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, so surely some of them would have performed on these recordings.

Four years in the making The Slow Light is All India Radio's tenth studio album. The Slow Light features artwork by 1960s visionary artist Victor Atkins (who won the 1969 Society of Illustrators Illustrator Award for his striking 'Miles in The Sky' Miles Davis LP cover). The Slow Light is the first LP cover Atkins has produced in decades.

More early recordings including demo recordings, early mixes of album tracks and songs I can't even remember recording! The album spans the years 1998 to 2003. Like the first volume much of the album was mastered from cassette tapes, so there's a bit of tape hiss and a few drop outs. The songs are somewhat imperfect, but they represent an important place in time for me and I hope you enjoy them.

Even from the globalized world's point of view in the year 2017: whenever you listen to recordings J.E.Berendt initiated in the '60s you are completely amazed about his visionary character. This is THE landmark album which showcases his explorations. Mani Neumeier, the incomparable drum wizard of Guru Guru fame, convinced Berendt to get the Jazz meets India idea into shape by engaging the Irène Schweizer Trio (which also featured bassist Uli Trepte) and calling in an Indian trio, with sitar player Dewan Motihar, responsible for arousing the Beatles' interest in India. In-between: German trumpet player Manfred Schoof and French saxophonist Barney Wilen. Jazz meets India is a stunning set in which it is a natural course of action that every musician respects and listens to each other - and we dare to say a more sincere approach to Indian music than many of the half-hearted world music blendings of nowadays.

It seems as though the majority of rockers circa the early 21st century have become to be too fascinated and mesmerized by modern day technology, sounds, and production. In other words…it sounds like it’s getting further and further away the sound of a band playing together live – all together in the same room. Thankfully, we can always count on the lads in Radio Moscow to deliver real vintage rock sounds – as heard throughout their performance at the Crossroads Festival, which is now officially released as the CD/DVD, “Crossroads Festival 2015.”
