2008 release from the Australian band, their fifth album overall. All India Radio mix a little Portishead with a dash of Boards Of Canada and Cinematic Orchestra to create the breathtaking soundscapes. This album represents the next step in the band's evolution with the addition of singer/co-writer Leona Prue to the lineup. While the music draws on the lush atmospheric qualities of previous albums, Leona's thoroughly entrancing voice adds a new focus, creating a warm and expansive landscape of music, melody and voice. Guests include Graham Lee (from The Triffids and classic KLF albums Chill Out and The White Room).
Martin Kennedy: "'The Aether' was recorded alongside 'Eternal' and was originally going to be the second record in an epic double vinyl edition of that album. The idea crashed to earth when Pledgemusic went bust and I had to pair back my dreams of a multi-vinyl concept album. So while The Aether now lives on as a separate release it remains musically very much a part of Eternal."
Outtakes, demo versions & remixes from "Eternal".
With a fondness for Lynch-esque aesthetics & Floydian psychedelics and somewhere in between the melodic minimalism of Radiohead and the lush beats of Boards Of Canada.
Australia's All India Radio is an Ambient Electronic/Post-Rock project helmed by songwriter/producer Martin Kennedy whose sound straddles the line between '60s psychedelia, '70s Krautrock, and contemporary styles from downtempo to chillgaze. All India Radio first gained attention issuing a series of evocative, often cinematic recordings in the 2000s, including The Inevitable, Permanent Evolutions, and The Silent Surf. All India Radio's music has been used on TV shows like CSI: Miami, One Tree Hill, The Lying Game, and Emmerdale, among others. Kennedy has also played with the Church's singer Steve Kilbey for a series albums, including 2014's sci-fi soundtrack The Rare Earth and 2017's Glow and Fade.
All India Radio's newest studio album "Eternal", the follow up to 2018's "Space", takes an experimental left turn, venturing into lofi hip hop with elements of progressive rock and space rock without losing the signature dusty ambience.
