At Tristan, jazz, fusion and soul melt together effortlessly. A band that can compete internationally with big names from these genres. It is high time that a larger audience became acquainted with this musical gem, which for once does not come from England or the United States but "just" from the Netherlands. The music of Tristan can best be described as 'feel-good vintage Acid Jazz music' with the energy, vibe and sound of today, performed by some of the best pop / jazz musicians from Europe. Tristan is reminiscent of bands such as Tower of Power, Snarky Puppy and classical acid jazz acts such as Incognito and the Brand New Heavies. “Azoth” is the name French pianist Hélène Pereira has given to her debut work. Spirituality has a special role to play for her, but she focuses in her album on the alchemy of the elements, which she views as material transformation in spiritual forms. The works she has recorded, French piano music from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, were created through intense collaborations with each of the composers, with some of the works being dedicated to Pereira personally. The outcome: enchanting sounds which render the spiritual alchemy of Pereira’s playing audible and alive.

Second release on Ondine by the award-winning pianist Anastasia Injushina features some of the lesser-known aspects of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s (1756–1791) piano music. Injushina is particularly known for the poetry and sensitivity in her playing, which makes Mozart’s music, among others, a perfect choice for repertoire for her.

This new recording from the Staatskapelle Weimar under Hansjorg Albrecht presents a rarely heard compilation of Richard Wagner’s themes from Tristan und Isolde, arranged for orchestra by Henk de Vlieger (b. 1953). This is Hansjorg Albrecht's follow-up Wagner recording to his album Der Ring Ohne Worte (OC1872). The Staatkapelle Weimar dates back to 1491, making it one of the oldest orchestras in the world, and one that is more than familiar with the works of Richard Wagner.

Very little is known about António Pereira da Costa (c. 1697–1770), though the exceptional quality of his only surviving compositions – 12 Concerti grossi – earns him pride of place. He held the post of Chapel Master of the Cathedral of Funchal, the highest musical position in the Portuguese island of Madeira. Pereira da Costa's Concerti are the only set of Concerti grossi of Portuguese provenance identified to date. They were largely inspired by Corelli’s, but frequently reveal an unmistakable “Iberian” flavour. These works embody the charm and freshness of a truly exquisite “tropical Baroque”. Ensemble Bonne Corde presents the first recording of these pieces, which are a milestone in Portuguese eighteenth century instrumental music.
