Baptisé roi européen de la valse, le hollandais André Rieu reçoit une formation classique et entame l'apprentissage du violon dès l'âge de cinq ans. En qualité de chef d'orchestre, il dirige le Strauss Opera, travaille sur de nombreux concerts télédiffusés jusqu'aux Etats-Unis et entame une discographie foisonnante pour Polygram. Fondateur et leader du Johann Strauss Orchestra, Rieu est à la tête d'une impressionnante collection d'enregistrements, de Strauss & Co (1994) à Romantic Moments II (2018) en passant par Romantic Moments (1998) et peut s'enorgueillir d'une communauté de fans lui permettant de remplir des stades.

He's been gigging around Melbourne (Naarm) and across the country for a number of years now, and is *officially* releasing his own work. Music runs in Andre's blood – literally. You may know his brother Kit Warhurst, drummer for Melbourne alt-rockers Rocket Science, or perhaps his sister, Myf Warhurst, who's a music journalist by trade (Spicks and Specks, Double J, Bang On podcast, Eurovision).

Maurice André rightly earned the reputation of being one of the finest trumpet virtuosos from the 20th and 21st centuries. He made numerous concert appearances and recordings and inspired composers like Blacher, Jolivet, and Tomasi to write major works for his instrument. André was born in the Cévennes district of southern France. Young Maurice began taking vocal instruction (solfeggio) at age ten, but two years later, influenced by his father – a miner, but also an excellent amateur trumpeter – began playing the cornet and eventually the trumpet.
