Guitarist/singer Anthony Gomes releases his Ruf Records label debut CD, Live, which was recorded at The Triple Door in Seattle, Washington, and it features four new songs, five songs off his previous album, Music Is The Medicine, and a sizzling cover of Led Zeppelin's 'Heartbreaker'. This album was recorded live to two-track without any musical overdubs. 'History can happen when you least expect it,' says Anthony Gomes about this CD. 'We recorded Live on a cold Tuesday winter night in Seattle…The crowd was enthusiastic, the room was dynamic and the band was electric. We couldn't help but play our best. This recording beautifully captures the energy exchange between the audience and an artist.'
It is not easy for a classical recording to truly inspire these days. This one does. Seeking common ground between the music of Friedrich Haendel and Philip Glass, Anthony Roth Costanzo alternatively sings works by the two composers in his beautiful raw soprano voice. He is accompanied by the early music Essemble Les Violons du Roy. Costanzo has created a musical unity that carriers the listeners with ease between the acoustic emotions of the Baroque and the Modern. A magnificent and moving recording.
Not only is Anthony Hopkins a highly respected Hollywood actor, he is also a fine classical composer! From the age of six, Anthony Hopkins has dreamt of being a musician, his love for classical music and the arrangement of music have been a large part of his life since childhood. Anthony spent much of his childhood learning, memorising and identifying the names of musical instruments, he later began to imagine the sounds they made whilst writing notes and directions for such sounds.
Four CD box set anthology by legendary guitarist, composer and instrumentalist Anthony Phillips. Anthony was a founding member of Genesis alongside Peter Gabriel, Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks with whom he recorded the albums From Genesis To Revelation and Trespass. After leaving the group in 1970, Anthony studied orchestration and harmony externally at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. After passing his LGSM exams, he taught music at Reeds School and Peper Harrow whilst continuing to compose and record in his home studio.
In the autumn of 1984 Anthony Phillips (ex-Genesis) was commissioned by music publishers De Wolfe to write and record an album of library music for use on TV and Film. In marked contrast to the solo 12-string pieces he was working on at the same time for Twelve, the library project had a number of requirements in the initial brief, one of the key ones being the use of then-contemporary electronic drum and synthesiser sounds.
Anthony composed a number of tracks for the project and scored a selection of them which were then recorded by some top session musicians (credited on the original album sleeve under the name 'X-Cess') in De Wolfe's London studio in the spring of 1985…
British-Trinidadian poet/musician/author Anthony Joseph’s latest album contains multitudes. Operating as a dedication to poetic ancestors and a coming together of musical generations, The Rich are Only Defeated When Running for their Lives is also an almighty jam. Recorded live last August, it shows off the prowess of a team of master musicians (Shabaka Hutchings among others) from Paris and London. Jason Yarde, who also produced Joseph’s 2018 album is credited as producer/composer/arranger – to startling, albeit intimate, effect.
