With over 35 million views, Anna Fedorova's live performance of Rachmaninoff's 2nd Piano Concerto is the most viewed classical concerto video on YouTube. We are proud to release the long-awaited studio recording of this beloved concerto, together with Rachmaninoff's 4th Piano Concerto.

The artists on this album, Joanne Lunn, Charles Daniels and Peter Harvey emulate "the portrayal of emotion is at the heart of all music". This "shepherd's ode" by George Frederic Handel illustrates the head-to-head of two contrasting personalities as they are joined by a third, "Il Moderato" who aims to reconcile the dueling characters with soberminded rationality.

The figures of Auguste Dupont and Peter Benoit may be little known outside their native Belgium, yet both enjoyed pianistic and pedagogical success in their lifetimes. Benoit’s symphonic poem is a piano concerto in all but name, ending with a spiritedly Mephistophelean ‘fantastical hunt’.

Although it was Donizetti’s first theatrical success, the original 1822 version of this violent love story was never given a complete performance because the tenor cast in the role of the hero died shortly before the first night. Even so, Donizetti quickly adapted this role for a mezzo-soprano, achieving his first theatrical success. Opera Rara presents the world premiere of the original tenor version. In addition the recording includes six more pieces written for the 1824 revival.
