After living in Germany for many years, Ahmad returns to Iran. His friend Sepideh organizes a trip with him and all his friends to spend three days by the shores of the Caspian Sea. Without warning the group, she invites a stranger, Elly, her daughter’s teacher from the care center. Ahmad, having had an unhappy marriage with a German woman, wants to be with an Iranian woman. On the second day, when everything seems to be going well, something strange happens and Elly disappears. The joyful and pleasant atmosphere fades away as they try to discover the reason for the bizarre disappearance. Elly’s family is contacted but none of them know of her whereabouts. The friends start panicking and begin to blame each other for Elly’s disappearance.

Coming back to accomplish the divorce procedure, Ahmad an Iranian man, arrives in Paris after four years to meet his ex-wife and her daughters from her previous marriage.

The international success of Iranian cinema over the past decades may have veiled the fact that Iranian filmmakers work under extremely harsh circumstances rarely seen in other national cinemas. Filmmaking in Iran is subject to tight government controls and strict censorship codes ranging from banning any criticism of the regime to highly restrictive codes on representation of women and their interactions with men. The imposed codes have undermined the creativity of the filmmakers and their ability to tackle pressing social issues.
