Kai Hansen formed Helloween in 1984, playing guitar and singing on the speed metal band's first four albums. He left in early 1989, however, and founded Gamma Ray with vocalist Ralf Scheepers (formerly with Tyran Pace). Fond of Tigers is a Canadian seven-piece post-rock instrumental band from Vancouver. An article in Exclaim! describes the band's sound: "with cacophonous explosions of percussion and guitar underlying wild strains of trumpet and violin, only to drop out for unexpected, ambient glimmers of a once-roaring piece." The group began in 2000 as a solo project of guitarist Stephen Lyons. After Lyons' pop group Beauventure disbanded, Lyons performed solo, and soon began playing along with tape loops and recorded sounds.

A progressive rock band from Bahrain led by Mohammed (guitar) and Nabil Al-Sadeqi (drums). The music of Osiris mixes Anglo-Saxon progressive influences (Camel, Genesis, Jethro Tull) with Arabic music, notably the interplay of percussion lines and succeeds in being a genuine musical osmosis between two cultures. During their first era the band released three albums, "Osiris", 1982 , "Myth & Legend" in 1984 and "Reflections" in 1989. In 1991 Osiris releases their first and only live album "Beyond Control Live" and surprisingly in 2007 they release a conceptual album called "Visions from the Past" which is more oriented towards a blend of Bahraini music and Rock.

"THIS IS A REAL GOD DAMN EMERGENCY!!" shouts Steve Albini to close Excellent Italian Greyhound's opening track "The End of Radio." A warning that caps off sarcastic platitudes like "Can you hear me now?", "That drum roll means we've got a winner!", and "I'd like to thank our sponsors," the line's unnerving insistence is a reminder of Albini's simple, yet commanding language. Often ushered into dark corners with other furrowed musicians pumping their fists and directing anger toward a faceless opponent, Shellac are in fact purveyors of a strand of staunch politicism that's as funny as it is critical. The commentaries are biting and the sarcasm is snide, but save for the darker musical signifiers, their lyrical conviction is usually dressed in a garb of humor and playfulness.

Two CD set containing BBC Sessions and concert recordings handpicked by the Scottish singer/songwriter himself. In 1990, the Commotions disbanded after their third album and Lloyd relocated to New York to release a series of critically acclaimed solo releases. This 25 track collection features exclusive versions of both his solo and Commotions material with Cole providing sleeve notes of his recollections for the recordings.
