Four Asian-American rappers run into tough obstacles as they try to make it big in Hip Hop, a genre rooted in black culture.

Bad Boys Blue is a multinational dance-pop group formed in Cologne, Germany, in 1984 and originally featuring British lead singer John McInerney, American Andrew Thomas, and Jamaican-born Trevor Taylor. After Taylor left the group in 1988, he was replaced by Trevor Travis; upon scoring a number 89 chart hit in 1993 with "Save Your Love," Travis exited as well, and Bad Boys Blue continued as a duo until adding Mo Russel in 1995. His 1999 departure made way for Jo Jo Max.

A rapper who went from obscurity to hanging with Yeezy in no time, Chicago emcee Montana of 300 spent 2015 adding his vocals to some bootleg remixes and ended the year working with Kanye West. Montana kicked his career off in 2008 with the group 300, who were named after the gladiator-themed movie. The crew were influenced by the South Chicago style of drill music and added themselves to a remix of Chief Keef's "Don't Like," but by 2014 they were broken up and off to solo careers. Montana's kicked into high gear in 2015 with the track "Air Jordan" and bootleg remixes of tracks like "White Iverson," "Chiraq," and "Trap Queen."

Following the release of Yemi Alade critically acclaimed sophomore album Mama Africa; the Effyzzie Music diva releases the music video for Ferrari. Hadiza Blell, better known by her stage name DiJa, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. She is currently signed to Mavin Records. Yemi Eberechi Alade simply known as Yemi Alade, is a Nigerian Afropop singer and songwriter. She gained prominence after winning the Peak Talent Show, and is best known for her hit single Johnny. Wizboyy is a fast rising, multitalented Nigerian Gospel, Highlife singer, producer, choral director, instrumentalist and label executive. He has performed at numerous shows and churches in Nigeria and abroad, best known for his hit singles such as Screensaver, Owu Sa Gi, Infinity and Fotojenik.

Strength Magazine Presents Subtext is a 1999 hip-hop compilation CD coordinated by Strength magazine, a publication that no longer exists, unlike many of the artists on this album that still do. Some of them include Dilated Peoples, Aceyalone, J-Rocc, DJ Babu, Madlib, Del The Funky Homosapien, and many more. This was released through ffrr Recordings in association with London Records.

Here To Save You All is the 1996 debut album by Derek Barbosa, better known under the pseudonym Chino XL. This was released on the major label american recordings.
