Bear Family Records came into being in the late summer of 1975. We want to celebrate the company's 35th anniversary with a very special release. A specially priced CD/book edition has been produced just for this event. Our friends in the music industry, musicians and songwriters, have written and recorded a collection of 'Bear' songs especially for our anniversary. These original recordings - 68 in all - are available exclusively on this LP-sized Bear Family boxed set. Especially interesting are the songs that deal not just with any old bear, but with our own Bear Family label - Jim Diamond: Bear Family; Deke Dickerson: Bear Family Talking Blues; Roland Heinrich: Sixteen Discs, and Kim Lenz: What I Crave.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is an upcoming American fantasy television series based on the novel The Lord of the Rings and its appendices by J. R. R. Tolkien. Developed by showrunners J. D. Payne and Patrick McKay for the streaming service Prime Video, the series is set in the Second Age of Middle-earth, thousands of years before Tolkien's The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. It is produced by Amazon Studios with the Tolkien Estate, the Tolkien Trust, HarperCollins, and New Line Cinema.Howard Shore, the composer for the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films, was reported to be in discussions with Amazon about working on the series in September 2020. He was said to be interested in developing musical themes but not necessarily composing the entire score. Shore was confirmed to be in talks for the series a year later, when composer Bear McCreary was reported to be involved as well. Their hiring was officially announced in July 2022, with McCreary composing the score and Shore writing the main title theme. McCreary said the main theme was created independently of the score, but he felt the two "fit together so beautifully".

Composer Bear McCreary returned for the second season of the time-travel series Outlander, which moves its setting from Scotland to Paris, France. He provides over an hour more of the show's popular mix of symphonic atmosphere and regional influences here, adding French Baroque music to its purview without giving up the traditional Scottish folk of the first season. Outlander, The Series: Season 2 also offers two new versions of the show's theme song, "The Skye Boat Song," including a French-language rendition sung by Raya Yarbrough. The album continued the show's streak of appearances on the Billboard 200 and Soundtracks chart.

McCreary composed the score for God of War (2018), for which he earned massive acclaim as well as both BAFTA and D.I.C.E. awards. But scoring this game was no small task — Ragnarök isn’t just an epic, it’s billed as the conclusion to the “Norse saga” for the series (following the original “Greek saga”) and everyone knows that a finale this big is going to require both bombastic and heart-wrenching symphonies.
