Absolutelly phenomenal album! Super jazz metal fusion made by true pros plus killer drumwork on this album, absolutelly mindblowing! Donati is a master of polyrhythms, his versatility is unbelieveble and this modern type of fusion can please even the most pretentious fusion lover! The sound is killer too, wonderful indeed! The diversity of the compositions is well balanced, each musician is an ace in hos work, but overall is this "not of this earth" drumming from Virgil Donati, absolutelly fantastic! Sometimes we have the impressions that the unbelieveble technical skills provided by Donati, are here only to prove his fantastic talent and this music is made only for musicians! That's not true, but to fully understand this album, there are many auditions necessary!

Jonas Hellborg launches a new platform for integration of east and west, a project called Art Metal. Borrowing the aesthetic of contemporary metal expanded with Indian and jazz improvisational disciplines, it is a proposal for what a new musical canvas could be. With long time collaborator, South Indian percussion master Selvaganesh, he explores this new path with two legends of the metal scene, Jens Johansson (Yngwie Malmsteen, Dio, Stratovarius) and Anders Johansson (Yngwie Malmsteen and Hammerfall). Completing the ensemble is Swedish guitar phenomenon Mattias IA Eklundh. The music has been slowly brewed over 18 months to find the spaces where the elements of the seemingly disparate musical traditions can comfortably coexist, even gel into new forms of sonic art.

Criminally unknown and underappreciated, Allan Holdsworth is one of the greatest musicians ever to pick up the electric guitar. Here, on 1985's Metal Fatigue, everything finally comes together for him. For the majority of this record, Holdsworth is joined by bassist Jimmy Johnson and drummer Chad Wackerman, and these two musicians, virtuosos in their own right, complement Holdsworth beautifully (check out Johnson's wonderful part in "Home" and lovely solo on "Panic Station"). The leader is known for his extremely legato phrasing and rich harmonic vocabulary, both of which are on display in the solo and frantic fills of "Metal Fatigue."
