Bibi Tanga's brand of Afro-Pop-Futurist-Funk is a melting pot of styles that bridge a musical gap between Africa and France. The son of a diplomat from Central African Republic, he moved to France at the age of ten and has lived in four different countries. His smart, slick and groovy blend of styles fuses together languages and cultures with socially conscious lyrics in English, French as well as Central African Republic's official language, Sango. On his latest album, Now, Tanga has forged a new musical identity in which rhythms of his homeland are melded with English new wave and two-tone and particularly American funk to achieve a unique and uncategorisable sound.

Everlasting is the second collection of covers Martina McBride has recorded, following 2005's Timeless by nearly ten years. A decade isn't the only thing separating the two records. Timeless was a collection of country covers but Everlasting has soul in its heart, with the singer tackling R&B standards from Aretha Franklin ("Do Right Woman, Do Right Man"), Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes ("If You Don't Know Me by Now"), the Supremes ("Come See About Me"), Otis Redding ("I've Been Loving You Too Long"), and Sam Cooke ("Bring It on Home to Me").

On her debut album Gotta Do It Right, singer and composer Cecilia Bertolini offers up a glowing album of jazz-tinged folk-pop that is rich with emotion. Free of affectation, her voice and music reveal a sublime talent that is ripe for discovery. Bertolini is backed by a team of musicians that are among the most highly regarded on the French jazz scene. Pianist and arranger Armel Dupas is joined by guitarist Olivier Louvel, drummer Karl Jannuska, bassist Manuel Marches and trumpeter Sylvain Gontard.

To a certain extent, Ozzy Osbourne doesn't need to make new music – and to a certain extent he hasn't, choosing to not record an album of original material in the years immediately after the reality TV show The Osbournes once again turned him into a household name. At the peak of Ozzy's fame in the early '80s, he was a boogeyman, embodying all the dangers of rock & roll, but the TV show made him safe, even cuddly – a punch line at the White House Foreign Correspondent's Dinner – which just helped him rake in the money, particularly since in addition to riding the wave of The Osbournes, his annual OzzFest tour turned into an institution of sorts, helping launch new bands while tending to his metal credibility.

Incredibly this soundtrack has NEVER been released in any format, we went back to the original master tapes and worked with composer Joe Delia to clean up the original elements.

Like Abel Ferrara, Death Waltz Recording Company are not prone to shying away from the more extreme corners of culture, and are delighted to be presenting a true underground classic for the first time ever. Ferrara's pictures often tread the line between grindhouse trash and art-films with insightful social commentary—and unflinching realism—and MS. 45 is his most notorious film, with much of its power coming from Joe Delia's grimy yet haunting music. A sparse piano motif initially creates a lonely voice for the (mute) heroine but it's overshadowed by wailing trumpet, electric guitar, and menacing synths that paint a disturbing musical picture of the world she inhabits.

When the Girls' Girl Talk came out in 1984, Prince's Minneapolis sound was huge. R&B was full of Prince and Time imitators, and many artists reasoned that an easy way to score a quick hit was to be as Minneapolis-sounding as possible. But not every Minneapolis-style recording that came out in 1984 was successful, Girl Talk, in fact, received very little attention. Despite the fact that Prince associate André Cymone produced this album and wrote or co-wrote all of the material, Girl Talk fell through the cracks. Nonetheless, this isn't a terrible record. Although the material tends to be derivative and not very original, Cymone comes up with some catchy synth-funk and new wave grooves here and there.

Formed in Chicago, Illinois in 1959, The Chi-lites were originally called the Hi-Lites, but had to change their name as there was a similarity with another groups name at the time. The 'C' in the groups 'Chi-Lites' name derived from their hometown's city, Chicago. Prior to the first incarnation Eugene Record, Clarence Johnson and Robert Lester recorded with the group The Chanteurs, who released material on the Renee Records imprint in 1959.

When Omnivore Recordings acquired Nighthawk Records they also gained a secret weapon in Leroy Jodie Pierson. Leroy had founded Nighthawk, co-produced most of the albums, wrote most of the liner notes, photographed the artists, and best of all, wanted to be involved in the revival of the label. Throughout his life, Pierson devoted himself to musical pursuits. Among his endeavors was production of blues shows and festivals, teaching blues classes at Washington University in St. Louis, helping form the Missouri Friends of the Folk Arts, hosting/DJ-ing radio shows, authoring books and recording his own music.
