Big One Big One Plays Pink Floyd (2009)

All members of of Obscured By Pink are influenced by Pink Floyd. The band plays the music in it’s purist form; not like some of the band’s that fake it electronically. Hence the name Obscured By Pink. The band captures the essence of Pink Floyd’s finest moments. They focus on what made Pink Floyd into the band it became both before and after their commercial success. Also, the music created by Floyd during these days has become timeless. It can be enjoyed by all people of varying age groups, not just those entrenched in the period of the bands’ commercial period. Obscured By Pink was chosen as the name for the band to show the public that they weren’t really a copy-group. The band changes things (as Floyd did in the early days). This band is not a mechanical representation of one of the greatest bands in history. The band stands on it’s own and prefers it that way.

'The Other Side’, is a 4 CD collection of b sides, 12” mixes, rare tracks and cover versions – with one CD being devoted to covers including Kate’s versions of Elton John’s ‘Rocket Man’ and ‘Candle In The Wind’, and George and Ira Gershwin’s ‘The Man I Love’. Rare tracks such as ‘Brazil’, from the film soundtrack, ‘Lyra’ from the film ‘The Golden Compass’, ‘Be Kind to My Mistakes’ from Nic Roeg’s film ‘Castaway’ and ‘Humming’, an early demo never released before, are also featured in the special set.

Guy LeBlanc is a Canadian keyboardist well known from his "Nathan Mahl" band and short but prolific appearance in Camel's lineup. However most of people never heard that he also recorded 2 solo albums: "Subversia" and "All the Rage". If you want to find different side of LeBlanc you can proceed to his second album which is very diverse and among prog tracks includes many pop/rock and heavy metal (sometimes in French language) songs. But if you love his work in "Nathan Mahl" you ought to check this great album first…
