In the fourth decade of a jazz career in which he has always made a subtle art sound easy, US saxophonist still caresses old standards with the same urbane ecstasy he always has. In its hip-hop or contemporary-classical borrowings, free-improv extremes or north European minimalist whisperings, jazz is now a very different music to the sleek, swinging one Hamilton absorbed from his dad’s records as a boy. But nobody can accuse Hamilton of living in the past: it would be like telling someone they shouldn’t still be in love with a fascinating old partner.

For this Fonè Records release, pianist Paolo Birro, bassist Aldo Zunino and Alfred Kramer on drums, combines an audiophile program that includes such favorites as "Round About Midnight," "I Can't Get Started," "On A Misty Night" and more. Recorded in stereo DSD on the Pyramix Recorder using dCS A/D and D/A converters.

This album is part of recordings I made on the occasion of concerts of the fonè Music Festival Piaggio edition 2021. I realized this recording at the Auditorium Piaggio located inside the famous Museum in Pontedera, the place where Piaggio was born and where it still continues to produce today.

This album features the new renditions of the historic theme signed by Henry Mancini, performed for Fonè label by Scott Halmiton’s trio with Paolo Birro and Alfred Kramer, Fausto Mesolella, Enzo Pietropaoli, Eleonora Bianchini, Riccardo Zegna and Giampaolo Casati, Peo Alfonsi and Salvatore Malore.
