Blondie is an American rock band co-founded by singer Debbie Harry and guitarist Chris Stein. The band were pioneers in the American punk and then the new wave scene of the mid-1970s in New York. Their first two albums contained strong elements of these genres, and although highly successful in the United Kingdom and Australia, Blondie was regarded as an underground band in the United States until the release of Parallel Lines in 1978. Over the next three years, the band achieved several hit singles including "Heart of Glass", "Call Me", "Rapture" and "The Tide Is High". The band became noted for its eclectic mix of musical styles incorporating elements of disco, pop, reggae, and early rap music.

Blondie turned to British pop producer Mike Chapman for their third album, on which they abandoned any pretensions to new wave legitimacy (just in time, given the decline of the new wave) and emerged as a pure pop band. But it wasn't just Chapman that made Parallel Lines Blondie's best album; it was the band's own songwriting, including Deborah Harry, Chris Stein, and James Destri's "Picture This," and Harry and Stein's "Heart of Glass," and Harry and new bass player Nigel Harrison's "One Way or Another," plus two contributions from nonbandmember Jack Lee, "Will Anything Happen?" and "Hanging on the Telephone."

Blondie will release Vivir En La Habana in July, an ‘official soundtrack’ to a new short film capturing the band’s 2019 live debut performance in Havana, Cuba. The band was invited to perform as part of a cultural exchange through the Cuban Ministry of Culture. The four-day event was filmed (naturally) and the documentary is being premiered in June in the UK, at the Sheffield Doc/Fest, and in North America at the Tribeca Festival.

A good representation of the modern Blondie, Live By Request provides a nice performance. The band sounds solid and the concert mixes a variety of eras cleanly. The DVD offers excellent picture with positive audio and a minor mix of extras.
