"(We Ain't Got) Nothin' Yet" is extraordinary and magical; like the Box Tops' "The Letter," it's one of those little two-minute blasts of pop which brought the transistor radio to life and which is the proverbial breath of fresh air on oldies radio stations daring enough to play psychedelia. Psychedelic Lollipop is the real thing; the Blues Magoos on the LP cover look like Captain Kirk abandoned them on some forgotten Star Trek planet, and the music inside the sleeve is authentic acid rock. They stretch John D. Loudermilk's "Tobacco Road" across four-and-a-half Seeds-style minutes, obliterating the Nashville Teens' 1964 hit recording in the process.

Madcap music and special effects helped these all-American hippies create a crazy blend of Pop Art and cartoon-ish musical lunacy that brightened up the late sixties. Featuring Mike Esposito on guitar, this was The Magoos' second album, released in March 1967. Informative sleeve notes and band interviews by Mike Stax, plus 11 bonus tracks - including single versions and rarities - complete this 'must-have' 60's limited digipak reissue. Repertoire.

Basic Blues Magoos (1968) – the final long-player with the lineup of Ralph Scala (keyboards), Ronnie Gilbert (bass), Emil "Peppy" Thielheim (guitar), Mike Esposito (lead guitar) and Geoffrey Daking (drums) – is arguably their best and easily most progressive outing. Perhaps this can partially be credited to the combo's retreat from creating in the comparatively uninspired environs of a studio. Instead, they essentially cocooned themselves into their legendary Bronx, New York digs, which at one time had been inhabited by none other than Gram Parsons. The autonomy paid off, as did their sizable influence from the U.K.-derived mod and freakbeat scenes, kick-started no doubt by a recent tour with the Who.

Behind The Dykes is a double LP compilation presenting the best bands and artists the Dutch had to offer in the period 1964-1972. The Netherlands was the first non-English speaking country to storm the Billboard Hot 100 with a string of hit singles from bands such as Shocking Blue, Focus, George Baker Selection, Golden Earring, and Tee-Set. This set presents the bands that followed closely behind, with singles and albums that internationally have become highly sought-after records. Some bands with a rich discography, others with no more than one or two singles under their belt. Original singles of many of these tracks are currently offered and/or sold for hundreds of Euros on Discogs, and many original pressings were so limited at the time of release that they are impossible to find.
