"Love and Theft" is Bob Dylan's 31st studio album and was recorded in May 2001. It was produced by Dylan under the pseudonym of Jack Frost. The album is an homage to the music and racial history of the American South, and was very well-received by critics. Robert Christgau of The Village Voice wrote: "If Time Out of Mind was his death album—it wasn't, but you know how people talk - this is his immortality album".

The recording captures Lewis's ensemble perhaps at zenith. "Jazz at Vespers" is one of the key albums in the George Lewis canon. It was recorded during a Vespers service in 1954 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Oxford Ohio. This was the church of Rev. Alvin Kershaw, a jazz enthusiast who was one of the first to use jazz bands as part of a service. George Lewis was at his best playing spirituals, his clarinet gentle and introspective, weaving inside the melodies like a white dove. The band backed him sensitively.Highly recommended. Clean, clear recordings.

With her sleek bob haircut (usually with a flower placed just so), vintage fashion sense, strikingly beautiful looks and artfully customized ukulele, Janet Klein might seem at first to be a simple novelty act, a 21st-century hipster "ironically" recreating the subtly naughty looks of a fin-de-siecle French postcard. Then she opens her mouth to sing. There's no Betty Boop hiccups or Mae West-style brassiness in her charmingly original voice. And when she starts to play her ukulele, it's clear that this oft-ridiculed cousin of the guitar is neither prop nor gimmick, but a delightful and under-utilized musical instrument. Bearing an ever-expanding repertoire of, as she puts it, "obscure, lovely and naughty songs from the 1910's , 20's and 30's," Janet Klein is a musical archeologist hiding in the body of an F. Scott Fitzgerald heroine.

In 2003, Columbia/Legacy reissued 15 selected titles from Bob Dylan's catalog as hybrid SACDs. Each title was packaged as a digipak, containing the full original artwork. On each of the titles, and on each of the layers, the remastered sound was spectacular, a considerable upgrade from the initial CD pressings. Five of these titles – Another Side of Bob Dylan, Blonde on Blonde, Bringing It All Back Home, Slow Train Coming, Blood on the Tracks, Love and Theft – also had 5.1 Surround Sound mixes.

In the years 1978 to 1981, Robert Crotty would show up on Loren Connors' doorstep in New Haven, Connecticut with his tiny, almost toy guitar. The two would then spend hours playing acoustic blues, the likes of which was absolutely staggering in its truthfulness. "Robert Crotty with Me: Loren's Collection (1979-1987)" is the first anthology of the late bluesman's work, as selected by Connors, his former playing partner and avant blues master.
