Fahrstuhl zu den Sternen (englischer Originaltitel: The Fountains of Paradise) ist ein Science-Fiction-Roman von Arthur C. Clarke. Die Handlung spielt im 22. Jahrhundert und beschreibt den Bau eines Weltraumlifts. Dieser „Orbitalturm“ ist ein gigantisches Bauwerk, das sich vom Erdboden bis zu einem Satelliten in einer geostationären Umlaufbahn in rund 36 000 Kilometern Höhe erstreckt. Ein derartiges Bauwerk, sobald vorhanden, könnte benutzt werden, um Nutzlasten in eine Umlaufbahn zu befördern, ohne auf Raketenantriebe zurückgreifen zu müssen und wäre damit ungleich kostengünstiger als die bisherige Technologie, und besäße das Potential, die weitere Erschließung des Sonnensystems gewaltig zu vereinfachen. Der Roman bietet sehr gute Unterhaltung und wurde 1979 zu recht mit dem Hugo und dem Nebula Award ausgezeichnet und ist definitiv einer der besten Romane von Arthur C. Clarke.

In Arthur C. Clarkes Roman hat die Entwicklung der Menschheit den Zustand der Vollendung erreicht. Ist sie damit auch gleichzeitig am Ende? "Vergessene Zukunft" schildert das Abenteuer eines jungen Mannes, der über alle Hindernisse und Tabus hinweg der Menschheit einen Weg aus der Stagnation zu öffnen versucht.

Artur Schnabel was an Austrian-American classical pianist, composer and pedagogue. Schnabel was known for his intellectual seriousness as a musician, avoiding pure technical bravura. Among the 20th century's most respected and important pianists, his playing displayed marked vitality, profundity and spirituality in the Austro-German classics, particularly the works of Beethoven and Schubert. He was the first pianist to record all of Ludwig van Beethoven's 32 piano sonatas. The recordings were made in Abbey Road Studios in London on a C. Bechstein grand piano from 1932 to 1935, seven years after electrical recording was invented. Originally recorded on 78 rpm phonograph records for the His Master's Voice recording label, the recordings have since been reissued numerous times. These recordings were inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1975 & into the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress in 2018.

Arthur Baker helped codify the remixer as artist. His genre fluid approach to projects has resulted in a joyous myriad of classics that spans many decades. This 80 's focused Dance Masters collection offers a welcome glimpse at Baker's illustrious career and many long out of print 12" versions and previously unavailable mixes. This 43 track, four CD edition includes a wide array of selections from the likes of Robbie Nevil's "C'est La Vie", Fleetwood Mac's "Big Love," Neneh Cherry's "Buffalo Stance", Jeffrey Osborne's "Soweto", Freeez's "I O U", Rockers Revenge's "Walking On Sunshine" and of course the juggernaut "Planet Rock" with Afrika Bambaataa & Soulsonic Force. Complete with in depth liner notes by Bill Coleman, track by track notes written by Arthur Baker himself, previously unseen session photos from Arthur's personal archives and a signed insert. All tracks remastered by Nick Robbins at Sound Mastering.

Arthur Rubinstein was a Polish-American pianist. His first recording was made in 1910, but his major recording career was between 1928 and 1976. This Dutton Vocalion's reissue features his performance of Ludvig van Beethoven's third and fourth Piano Concertos with London Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Daniel Barenboim, recorded in 1975 and originally released as separate LP's in 1976. Both concertos were digitally remastered from original analogue tapes by Michael J. Dutton.

Here is another fascinating issue in their SACD series. Again Dutton Vocalion (Epoch) have been able to obtain original four-track surround recordings never before issued in multi-channel SACD. Artur Rubinsteun is soloist in Rachmaninoff, Saint-Saëns' Piano Concertos and De Falla's Nights In The Gardens Of Spain, with Eugene Ormandy and the Philadelphia Orchestra.
