"Another Passenger" peaked at #29 on the Billboard Pop albums chart. The lead single "It Keeps You Runnin'" peaked at #46 on the Pop singles chart and #27 on the Adult Contemporary chart, while the second single "Half A Chance" appeared only on the Adult Contemporary chart, peaking at #39. "Spy" is singer-songwriter Carly Simon's 9th album, and 8th studio album, released in 1979. It is also her last album for Elektra Records. The title of the album is a tribute to Anaïs Nin, whose quote “I am an international spy in the house of love”, is written across the top on the inside jacket. Simon dedicated the album to producer Arif Mardin, in which she wrote in the liner notes, "Dedicated to Arif who is himself fantastic." Although "Spy" did not yield any major hit singles, "Vengeance" (which features actor Tim Curry on backing vocals) earned Simon a Grammy Award nomination for Best Rock Vocal Performance, Female in early 1980, the first year to feature this new category. The song peaked at #48 on the Billboard Pop singles chart, and Simon later included it on her Anthology album in 2002. The album also features a track entitled "Never Been Gone", which has gone on to become a fan favorite, as well as one of Simon's personal favorite songs of her own. In 2009, she would release an album entitled after the track.

"Come Upstairs" is the 9th studio album by American singer-songwriter Carly Simon, released by Warner Bros. Records, on June 16, 1980. It was the first of her three albums for Warner Bros. and it has a harder, more rock-oriented sound than her previous albums. Whereas those earlier records were prime examples of the singer-songwriter genre, with soft-rocking arrangements primarily built around piano and/or acoustic guitar accompaniment, Come Upstairs uses electric guitars and synthesizers prominently. The album reached #36 on the Billboard 200. The first single released from the album was "Jesse", an acoustic ballad that was more in the style of Simon's earlier work rather than an example of her new sound. "Jesse" became a major hit, remaining on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for over six months, peaking at #11, and was certified Gold by the RIAA for sales of more than 1,000,000 copies in the United States alone. It also reached #12 in Canada, and #4 in Australia, becoming Simon's biggest hit there since "You're So Vain".

"Playing Possum" is the 5th studio album by American singer-songwriter Carly Simon, released by Elektra Records, on April 21, 1975. It was Simon's 3rd consecutive album to reach the Top 10 on the Billboard Pop albums chart, peaking at #10 in June 1975. The lead single from the album, "Attitude Dancing", which featured Carole King on backing vocals, was also a success, peaking at #21 on Billboard Pop singles chart, and #18 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart. A 2nd single, "Waterfall," which featured prominent backing vocals by Simon's then-husband James Taylor, didn't fare as well, reaching no higher than #78 on the Pop singles chart. It fared much better on the Adult Contemporary chart, entering the Top 40 and peaking at #21. The album's 3rd and final single "More and More" was co-written by New Orleans pianist Dr. John, who also played piano on the track, along with Ringo Starr on drums, but it peaked no higher than #94 on the Pop singles chart.

Carly Simon’s exceptional debut remains one for the books. Immediately recognizing her potential, Elektra Records founder Jac Holzman signed and paired her with legendary producer Eddie Kramer. The pair’s chemistry resulted in a remarkable record that birthed an instant Top Ten hit, “That’s the Way I’ve Always Heard It Should Be,” a potent statement about marriage that, in the era, doubled as a feminist statement. Simon’s star-making self-titled album went on to garner critical acclaim and two Grammy nominations, including an award for Best New Artist. Now, more than four decades later, the album receives the sonic treatment it’s long deserved. For the first time, Kramer’s production gets the opportunity to truly shine. Boasting stellar sonics and gorgeous subtleties, this SACD is tailor-made for relaxing listening sessions with a glass of wine at arm’s reach.
