As he preps his fourth album, Eric Church pays tribute to the time-honored tradition of releasing a live album while the iron is hot. And so there's Caught in the Act: Live, a 17-track set recorded at the Tivoli Theatre in Chattanooga, Tennessee as he supported his career-making 2011 record Chief. In concert, Church is brawnier than he is in the studio – witness "Creepin," where such subtle production tricks as backward guitars are stripped away so it just barrels by on drums and guitars – but this isn't a bad thing, as macho swagger is integral to his appeal.
The cool, crafty title of Nils new album 'Caught In The Groove' says it all about his studio and onstage state of mind. A decade and a half after riding his first #1 hit 'Pacific Coast Highway' into contemporary jazz history as Billboard's Song of the Decade 2001-2010, the relentlessly prolific composer, guitarist and producer continues to create instantly infectious, sonically adventurous tracks for himself and numerous artists eager to vibe with the energy of his Midas touch. He has scored numerous chart hits including 'Summer Nights', 'Let's Bounce', 'Georgy Porgy', 'Ready to Play' 'Catnap', Straight Down the Line' and 2011 Song of the Year 'Jumpstart'. Now it's time to gear up for the impact of Caught In The Groove's funky, high octane lead single Good Times Are Better'. Nils is also enjoying ongoing success on the Billboard Smooth Jazz Songs chart as co-writer and co-producer of pianist Lisa Addeo's 'Listen to This', the first new title to reach the pole position in 2020.
Upon leaving UK, before reaching Asia, journeyman John Wetton released his first solo album, Caught in the Crossfire. Although a vocal doppelgänger of Greg Lake, as a songwriter Wetton was always more of a team player, so there was no occasion in Wetton's past work where you could say, "Aha, this is what he'd sound like on his own." And he is largely on his own here, handling vocals, bass, keyboards, and even guitar while writing all of the material (though Peter Sinfield does chip in on "Get What You Want"). The result is surprisingly good; Wetton is clearly more comfortable writing songs on the bass, but he fleshes them out nicely with keyboards, supported by Bad Company drummer Simon Kirke, embellished with the plaintive guitar leads of Jethro Tull's Martin Barre, and polished with a pair of saxophone solos from Malcolm Duncan.
Adventure are a Norwegian project from Trondheim started by Terje Flessen and Odd Roar Bakken in the mid nineties. They both liked the same 70s' style progressive/classic rock and wanted to take their music to a higher level. In the beginning a studio project only which resulted in their self titled debut album in 2004. This was followed in 2009 by Beacon of Light. In 2014 they're back after a break and some changes in the line-up with a brand new album entitled 'Caught In the Web". Stylistically, the music on the album contains influences of Uriah Heep, Deep Purple, Jethro Tull, Camel, Pink Floyd and a whiff of Kansas. The result is an album containing music from classic rock to symphonic prog with a folk flair…
