Guy Martin attempts to break the motorcycle land speed record, which currently stands at 376mph. He travels to Bonneville Salt Flats in Nevada, where he must learn to ride a unique jet-propelled bike which has two engines and requires a completely different driving technique to any vehicle he has previously encountered. Guy’s bland lack of fear at the prospect of any challenge is part of what makes him such a mesmerising character. He also has, we gather, freakishly good balance, mastering the task of riding the monocoque design in a few minutes. “This is incredible,” says the bike’s designer. “It took our last guy a week to do this!”
