Recorded on Sept 3, 1965 at the now-defunct Judson Hall in Manhattan, these live tracks from saxophonist Charles Lloyd and his quartet have never been released before. In fact this marks the first-ever official appearance on record from Lloyd and his masterful quartet of guitarist Gábor Szabó, bassist Ron Carter and drummer Pete La Roca. This stunning release features pieces dear to Lloyd including compositions by Billy Strayhorn, Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, Bob Dylan and Brian Wilson. The centerpiece on the album is the title suite, dedicated to Lloyd’s great-great-grandmother.

Saxophonist Charles Lloyd is a forward-thinking musician's musician whose supreme improvisational talents and interest in cross-pollinating jazz with rock as well as non-Western styles of music during the '60s and '70s established him as one of the key figures in the development of fusion and world music.

Charles Lloyd has always led exceptional bands, and this is one of the finest. Following on from the live “Rabo de Nube” which won both the Readers and Critics Polls of Jazz Times, here is a studio album from the quartet with Jason Moran, Reuben Rogers and Eric Harland. Familiar material is reappraised and transformed in this session recorded in California in December 2009.

Though the Charles Lloyd New Quartet has been together for a decade, they haven't recorded as a group since 2011's "Athens Concert", when the saxophonist was still signed to ECM. Bassist Reuben Rogers and drummer Eric Harland were part of the Marvels' quintet for "I Long to See You" in 2016, and Lloyd most recently recorded with pianist Jason Moran on the duet offering "Hagar's Song" in 2013. But not recording together doesn't mean the same thing as not playing, as amply evidenced here.

This magnificent live recording marks saxophonist's Charles Lloyd’s first Blue Note release in 30 years. The six-movement "Wild Man Dance" was recorded in its premiere performance at the Jazztopad Festival in Wroclaw, Poland in 2013 and features pianist Gerald Clayton, bassist Joe Sanders and drummer Gerald Cleaver, as well as Greek lyra virtuoso Sokratis Sinopoulos and Hungarian cimbalom maestro Miklós Lukács, who colour, texture and rhythmically charge the music.

Rabo de Nube is a live album by jazz saxophonist Charles Lloyd recorded in Basel in 2007 by the Charles Lloyd Quartet featuring Jason Moran, Reuben Rogers and Eric Harland.

Blue Note releases "I Long To See You", the profound album from Charles Lloyd & The Marvels. The album finds the iconic saxophonist and recent NEA Jazz Master in the company of a new band featuring guitarist Bill Frisell and pedal steel guitarist Greg Leisz, along with his longtime quartet members bassist Reuben Rogers and drummer Eric Harland. The album also includes two remarkable guest vocal appearances by Willie Nelson and Norah Jones. All together they have created a sumptuous collection of 10 songs that range from traditional hymns to anti-war folk protests to re-envisioned Lloyd originals from his earlier recordings.
