Gus Till is one of the true pioneers of the psychedelic trance sound. Having worked with music since the 70s he found himself in London at the height of the goa trance moment. He had productions on almost every significant record label of the day - including Dragonfly, Twisted and TIP, but it was his work with the Slinky Wizard and Stoop and Fidget projects on Flying Rhino that earned him a reputation for absolute top quality. Despite this, he never managed to release a full length dance album. 6 Blues Giants Live! is a Box-set including the re-relase of various albums from various artists. Of course it's no hit-collection and typically for those low-budget releases is the diverse quality of the original albums. Nevertheless this 6-CD-Box includes some nice out of print rarities.

1947 (1998). Bucking the tide while beginning to surf on a wave of increasingly mannered modernity, Stan Kenton's orchestra maintained its popularity during the post-WWII decline of the big bands. Volume four in the Classics Stan Kenton chronology presents all of his Capitol recordings made between January 2 and September 24, 1947. June Christy continued to be the featured vocalist, often backed by Kenton's newly formed vocal group, the Pastels. Dave Lambert was the director of this ensemble and sang with them on at least the first three tracks heard here. Noteworthy instrumentalists present in Kenton's 19-piece band during 1947 were drummer Shelly Manne, trombonists Kai Winding and Eddie Bert, as well as saxophonists Vido Musso, Boots Mussulli…

Lionel Hampton and his French New Sound Vol. 1 (1955). Lionel Hampton joins forces with a number of top French musicians for this 1955 studio session, reissued in Verve's Jazz in Paris series. Three of the four compositions are Hampton's, swinging tunes arranged by Christian Chevalier. The first, "Voice of the North," is primarily for the leader's matchless vibes with the rhythm section, though individual soloists are featured, including fellow Americans Nat Adderley and Benny Bailey on trumpets and David Amram on French horn, as well as clarinetist Maurice Meunier and baritone saxophonist William Boucaya. It's just Hampton and the rhythm section (pianist René Urtreger, bassist Guy Pedersen, and drummer Jean-Baptiste Reilles) for the long workout of "À la French"…

Reissue with the latest remastering and the original cover artwork. Comes with a description written in Japanese. Nat Adderley's not actually busking in the subway – but instead playing a smoking little set at the Subway Nightclub in Cologne – working with an excellent group that includes Vincent Herring on alto sax, and some excellent rhythm work from the trio of Rob Bargad on piano, Walter Booker on bass, and Jimmy Cobb on drums! The tunes are all nice and long, and have a stretching, soulful feel that's really great – and which gets past the "classic" soul jazz cliches that can sometimes mar other Adderley albums from later years. Nat's in fine fine form, and Herring seems to help him unwind in a hip groove that's really carried off well – and the album's got a richness that easily makes it one of the best later sessions from Nat you can find! Titles include "The Chant", "Almost Always", "The Big J", "Plum Street", and "The Scene".

On Air – Live at the BBC Volume 2 is a 2013 live/compilation album featuring 63 previously unreleased tracks from the Beatles' 1963–1964 BBC Radio broadcasts. It was released on 11 November 2013, along with a remastered and repackaged Live at the BBC Volume 1, which was originally released in 1994. The album is available as a two-CD set and a three-LP set.
