A never-before-issued live recording of jazz legends McCoy Tyner and Joe Henderson leading a stellar quartet with bassist Henry Grimes and drummer Jack DeJohnette, at the hallowed lost jazz shrine Slugs' Saloon in New York City in 1966. Originally recorded by the legendary engineer Orville O'Brien - who recorded classic 1960s jazz albums such as Freddie Hubbard's 'The Night of the Cookers' and Alice Coltrane's 'Journey to Satchidananda' - the tape has been in DeJohnette's personal archives for nearly 60 years. Produced for release by Zev Feldman, Jack DeJohnette and Lydia DeJohnette.

Preserved on two reels in Rashied Ali's tape archive, this set has remained unreleased until now. This document may have been only the second time that Ali had led a band in public. The band membership is stellar and unprecedented, and the tunes they play predate all known segments of Ali's career as a composer or bandleader.Ali was still officially on the job as Coltrane's drummer when he assembled this cast for perhaps as little as two sets of music in the Spring of 1967.

Trinidad-born, Julliard-trained trumpet player and composer Etienne Charles was fascinated by Jab Molassie, the blue, fire-breathing carnival characters, and the people who become them for Carnival. He went to the village of Paramin on Carnival Monday, to watch them compete–only to dive in and start playing the biscuit tin along with them, getting himself splattered with blue paint.

Released in 2016, is a compilation album that focuses on the acid jazz genre. It features a collection of instrumental tracks with jazz funk breaks and rhythms.
