Muddy Water Blues: A Tribute to Muddy Waters is the second solo album by Paul Rodgers of Free and Bad Company fame. Paul Rodgers has one of the most distinctive voices in rock music. His has played in Free, Bad Company and The Firm (with Jimmy Page) and worldwide record sales in excess of 125 million copies. Seeing Muddy Waters live in London was to be a defining moment in his life and ultimately lead to this tribute album. Originally released in 1993 on the Victory label, and nominated for a Grammy Award that year, Muddy Water Blues contains stunning versions of 13 tracks made famous by Muddy Waters. With a basic band of Rodgers on vocals, Jason Bonham on drums, Pino Palladino on bass and Ian Hatton on rhythm guitar, each track is embellished with a guest lead guitarist. The line up reads like a who's who of rock blues guitarist including: Buddy Guy, Trevor Rabin, Brian Setzer, Jeff Beck, Steve Miller, David Gilmour, Slash, Gary Moore, Brian May, Neal Schon and Richie Sambora. The album is produced by Billy Sherwood.

The contemporary blues bannerman's recording debut (originally released as Who's Been Talkin' in 1980), while naturally not as strong as his later work (especially Bad Influence, released five years later), is the work of an extremely promising artist. The album is an appealing mix of standards (Willie Dixon's "Too Many Cooks," Howlin' Wolf's "Who's Been Talkin'," O.V. Wright's "I'm Gonna Forget About You," among others) and originals. Among the strongest of the latter are the slow blues "I'd Rather Be a Wino" and the closing number, "If You're Thinkin' What I'm Thinkin'," which contains the flavorful mix of tight rhythms, excellent guitar work, strong vocals, and bittersweet mood that would become Cray's hallmark.

Band on the Run is the third studio album by Paul McCartney and Wings, released in December 1973. It marked the fifth album by Paul McCartney since his departure from the Beatles in April 1970. Although sales were modest initially, its commercial performance was aided by two hit singles – "Jet" and "Band on the Run" – such that it became the top-selling studio album of 1974 in the United Kingdom and Australia, in addition to revitalising McCartney's critical standing. It remains McCartney's most successful album and the most celebrated of his post-Beatles works. In 2000, Q magazine placed it at number 75 in its list of the "100 Greatest British Albums Ever". In 2012, Band on the Run was voted 418th on Rolling Stone's revised list of "The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time". A contemporary review by Jon Landau in Rolling Stone described the album as "with the possible exception of John Lennon's Plastic Ono Band, the finest record yet released by any of the four musicians who were once called the Beatles".

Midnight Ride marked just about the pinnacle of Paul Revere & the Raiders' history as a source of great albums. Even more to their credit, most of the music on Midnight Ride was written by the bandmembers themselves, and not just Mark Lindsay and Paul Revere, but Phil Volk, Drake Levin, and Mike Smith getting a shared songwriting credit. The irony is that this was the last album on which that egalitarian spirit was to dominate; alongside the tight, hard, eminently danceable rock & roll sounds that comprise about two-thirds of this album, there are signs of the softer, more introspective balladry that lead singer Mark Lindsay was starting to favor in his songwriting ("Little Girl in the Fourth Row," etc.)…
