While singing in a lower class quarter in Paris, the street singer Albert falls in love with the Romanian party girl Pola, who is the companion of the gangster Fred. One night, Albert meets with Pola, who has just found that Fred had stolen her key, and his friend Louis proposes to toss to date her. However, Albert brings her to his room and they spend the night together, with Albert sleeping on the floor and Pola on his bed.

A British nobleman, John, falls in love with famous actress, Elsie, and forces the marriage issue by publishing their engagement. He then plans to take her to his father's estate to meet his relatives. His father, Lord Crayle, has summoned the immediate family to discuss how to prevent John from marrying beneath his station. When they meet Elsie, they are all shocked she is a commoner except cousin Edward, whose opinion is discounted, since he is involved with a married woman in Paris.

Also known as Hai Tang, this exotic melodrama was filmed in both German and English-language versions. The title character, played by Anna May Wong, is a dancer in pre-Revolutionary Russia. Hay Tang is offered a life of luxury by a powerful Russian Grand Duke, but she turns him down, preferring the love of a lowly lieutenant in the Imperial army. The Grand Duke responds by threatening dire consequences for the lieutenant, whereupon Hay Tang finds herself on the horns of a dilemma.

Jerry Strong is the son of a rich businessman, but wants to be a painter. He hires Kay Arnold, a good girl with a bad past, as a model. They fall in love, and plan to get married. But Jerry's parents raise strong objections.
