The Roaring Silence is the seventh studio album by English rock band Manfred Mann's Earth Band. It was released on 27 August 1976, by Bronze Records in the UK and by Warner Bros. Records in the US. Like other Earth Band albums, this includes material by other composers. "Blinded by the Light", which reached number one the Billboard Hot 100, is a cover version of a song by Bruce Springsteen; "Questions" is based on the main theme of Franz Schubert's Impromptu in G flat Major; "Starbird" takes its theme from Igor Stravinsky's ballet The Firebird; and "The Road to Babylon" is based on the canon "By the Waters of Babylon" by Philip Hayes.
Anticipation was quite high when it was announced in 1984 that Paul Rodgers, the past voice of Bad Company, and Jimmy Page, Led Zeppelin's former guitarist, were creating a "supergroup" called the Firm. Page and Rodgers had first tinkered with the idea of an album after their successful collaboration on the ARMS benefit tour for Ronnie Lane in 1983. Based upon the fact that it had been over five years since Page's last band effort, and two years since Rodger's lackluster finale with the original Bad Company, pundits were more than eager to hear what new material the duo would unleash. However, when the band's self-titled debut was actually released in 1985, it received a critical drubbing and was all but ignored by the record-buying public.
This CD is the audio soundtrack to the long, out of print US only released VHS video from 1984 called Pink Floyd's David Gilmour which was recorded and filmed at The Hammersmith Odeon in London in April of 1984. This classic 1984 concert was recorded and filmed towards the end of Gilmour's 1984 European leg of his first solo tour in support of his 1984 album About Face and sees Gilmour joined by an all-star band featuring Bad Company lead guitarist Mick Ralphs, ex-Manfred Mann drummer Chris Slade (who would join The Firm with Jimmy Page and Paul Rodgers after the US leg of the About Face Tour ended in the summer of 1984 and he would later join AC/DC), longtime Pete Townshend percussionist Jodi Linscott, keyboard player Gregg Dechart (a Canadian who had played for awhile in Uriah Heep), bass player Mickey Feat (who had just played on the first Fastway album (the band formed by ex-Motorhead guitarist Fast Eddie Clarke) before joining Gilmour's band) and saxophonist Raphael Ravenscroft and they deliver a blistering performance.
Swedish AOR/ Melodic Rock group Autumn’s Child is back with the fifth album ‘Tellus Timeline’. This work contains eleven songs in the vein of the previous albums however this time with some songs with a bit harder edge! “I think this is our best album so far”, says singer and founder Mikael Erlandsson. Autumn’s Child have their own unique way to do their music with an intent to have a lot of different styles on each release. “Both me and Mikael are huge Slade and Sweet fans from the 70’s. The track ‘Come and get it’ is pure glam and was a blast to record”, says co-producer Claes Andreasson. Magnus Rosén, former bass player of Hammerfall, again is heard on “Tellus Timeline”.
