Solo drumming is an art that few musicians can manage beyond the fringe of audience comprehension. Terry Bozzio first got his start as the drummer for Frank Zappa's backing band during the '70s, but would go on to become one of rock's most versatile session men, and form one of new wave's most visually exciting outfits, Missing Persons, along with then-wife Dale Bozzio. Born Terry John Bozzio on December 27, 1950 in San Francisco, CA, Bozzio began playing on makeshift drums at an early age, before taking formal lessons at the age of 13 (inspired by the Beatles' infamous appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show).

Seasons Change is an album by saxophonist Lee Konitz and vibraphonist/pianist Karl Berger recorded in Zürich in 1979 and released on the German Circle label. A beautiful pairing – the vibes and piano of Karl Berger, and the amazingly sharp alto tone of Lee Konitz!

After much research, Gudrun Schumann presents a second collection of works by Schumann and his creative contemporaries. These are interesting compositions. The works by Theodor Kirchner and Carl Reinecke are premiere recordings.

The latest recording by Zorn’s newest ensemble Chaos Magick is a suite inspired by the ancient Greek legend of Orpheus and Eurydice. Combining contemporary classical with jazz, funk, rock, blues, film soundtrack, noise improvisation and so much more this is a wild and evocative trip thru Hell and back. Tight conductions, complex melodies, burning solos, telepathic group interaction and all the wit, humor, joy and mystery that one has come to expect from Zorn’s dedicated and passionate crew of virtuosi are in abundant display in this beautiful and unique rendering of the classic Orpheus legend.

This outstanding release is first to couple music by the sister and wife of two great Romantics – incredibly gifted women who were also fine composers, whose music has remained little-known for almost 175 years.
