One of the major bands of the rock & roll era, the Who straddled the gap separating art-pop and hard-rock, creating kinetic, exploratory music that expanded the lexicon of rock & roll. Arriving during the second wave of the British Invasion, the Who came out of the UK's R&B-besotted Mod scene and married that groove to the crunching power chords pioneered by the Kinks. After their debut single "I Can't Explain" cracked the UK Top Ten in 1965, the band quickly gained a reputation for their volcanic live performances, which could escalate into Pete Townshend shattering his guitar while Keith Moon pushed over his drum kit. This volatility represented a new, dangerous streak within rock & roll and Townshend channeled this angst and upheaval into his original songs, starting with the epochal "My Generation," where Roger Daltrey sneered "I hope I die before I get old."

"Ride a Rock Horse" is the 2nd solo studio album by English singer Roger Daltrey, released on 4 July 1975 by Track in the UK and MCA in the US. "Ride a Rock Horse" was recorded during Daltrey's filming commitments for Ken Russell's film Lisztomania. The album's cover, which is photographed and designed by Daltrey's cousin Graham Hughes, depicts the singer as a rampant centaur. Three singles were issued from Ride a Rock Horse: "Come and Get Your Love", "Walking the Dog" and "Oceans Away". "Come and Get Your Love" peaked at #68 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and "Walking the Dog", a cover of the Rufus Thomas song, peaked at #52 on the UK Singles Chart. The album itself peaked at #14 on the UK Albums Chart and at #28 on the US Billboard 200. The song, "Hearts Right", had a music video with graphics and animation by Gerald Scarfe, who would later become known for his work with Pink Floyd.

Rory Gallagher's most successful albums are his live ones. He was an artist that came alive when onstage and this album covers a previously undocumented live period. This barnstorming 20-song, previously unreleased set is culled from four shows (London, Brighton, Sheffield and Newcastle) which were part of a 1977 tour across the UK in support of Rory’s then latest album 'Calling Card'. Featuring fantastic live versions of tracks from that album as well as from 1975’s 'Against The Grain' and other live favourites, has been mixed from the original multitrack tapes from the official Rory Gallagher archive and mastered for this release at Abbey Road Studios. Cover art by Irish graffiti artist Vincent Zara.
